Nige65 Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 I'm looking for a visual in car security locking device for the handbrake or steering wheel, has anyone on here got any recommendations to suit a Mk2 Escort? Thanks in advance.
BaileyMex Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 From experience the handbrake ones were a bit naff. Not got one, but these seem popular, depending on what steering wheel you have, prob no good for a Springalex type https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-security/disklok-steering-lock-silver-small-743849.html Or perhaps something like this pedal lock box https://www.amazon.co.uk/Milenco-Secure-Clutch-Motorhome-onwards/dp/B095HYW5W5/ref=asc_df_B095HYW5W5/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=500814515202&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16448016436125134004&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006661&hvtargid=pla-1330907183641&psc=1
BIG G Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 I've also got a Disklok for my Mk2 but i've welded a hasp and staple on the front for an extra large padlock as a visual thing really. i'm going to weld spreader bars on the back at some point, these will only stop opportunists really so the best defence is not park it anywhere isolated especilly if in your garage/lockup if the tools are led around to remove such items. 1
Dave Knight Posted December 30, 2023 Report Posted December 30, 2023 Just picking this up. Does anyone have a wheel clamp? Been looking at London Triangle's. Alternatively, security posts? I’m conscious lots of people can read these posts from anywhere so I’m a tad reluctant to go into details. Maybe a security section that’s locked out to eyes?

Thanks in advance. As said maybe disclock if steering wheel normal I've made mine usually for pedals I also do the wiring with a few hidden switches.
Johnny Boy Posted December 30, 2023 Report Posted December 30, 2023 Hidden switch, on ignition only, so it cranks, but won't start. So it makes a lot of noise but never starts.😀
Johnny Boy Posted December 30, 2023 Report Posted December 30, 2023 Unfortunately, if someone wants to steal it, whatever you have done to prevent it , won't be enough.

A Denver Boot wheel clamp is a) a deterrent and b) makes moving the car bloody difficult till its off! Not sexy method would be a bar through the steering wheel with a chain down to handbrake / seat belt mount secured with padlock - engage whilst on full lock, would certainly cause issues for a tealeaf! RWL81P Posted December 31, 2023 Report Posted December 31, 2023 the best thing to do is a loaded shotgun behind the drivers seat with a wire from the trigger round a series of pulleys and connect to the pedals. 1 1

The London Triangle ones look impressive.
