bozie Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 can i use rs turbo series 2 brakes on the rear of my mk2 escort if not what calipers and disc and any brackets can i use just wondering because my mate got a full set of rs turbo braks sitting about
Fiesta Steve Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 You can make them fit but there is no provision for a mechanical handbrake, if it needs to be MOTed. Although many tested turn a blind eye
orionmojo Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 wont they be too powerful for the rear of a car? what about granada stuff, or sierra.
Fiesta Steve Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 wont they be too powerful for the rear of a car? what about granada stuff, or sierra. Isn't that why you have bias box or proportioning valves. But yes they are overkill in my opinion
GT_Jim Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 wasnt escort 21 working on a similar project for his tina?
Jay_harrier Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 You'd be better off robbing a Ford that had discs on the rear already Sierra/Granada etc, you can keep a legal handbrake that way.
ratman Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 I had xr3 disk/callpers on axel when I was racing I changed to cossy callpers/mk3escort disks for mot XR3 cossy callpers/mk3escort
escort21 Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 wasnt escort 21 working on a similar project for his tina? Nope....was doing it for the front but the calipers were too big to fit under 13" wheels..had 1mm clearance which isn't enough
105Speed Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 Most aftermarket kits make use of the Sierra Cosworth (2wd ONLY) or Granada calipers and handbrake cable. Readily available and MOT friendly Last thing you want, with this computerised MOT system is a failure for Handbrake as every year after that it will be flagged up so even if you take the car to different stations they will know there has been an issue with the handbrake and check it. This computerised MOT'ing is like a Tattoo, its on the vehicle for ever... Bear in mind though a hydraulic handbrake is 'legal' on a pre 1968 car
bozie Posted March 19, 2007 Author Report Posted March 19, 2007 thanks everyone i will have a look to see what sort of money the full kits come up at thanks
