    Not long got back from a good day out … managed to find a couple of parts for the XR2 , had a catch up with a few guys i haven’t seen for a while and as a bonus saw such a mixture of vehicles … just thought i would post a few from the day .

    Update from James today. He's still in hospital and as well as the speech issues he describes, he has lost the use of one arm and is very worried he won't be allowed to drive again. "Hey everyone! Things are slow improving here typing this to you with my thumb and a dumbphone. My speech is still a bit slurred but when i first arrived they asked if i was Irish but now that as therapy I have to over articulate my speech and now think im from England now! (shocked when i tell them in the hospital I was born in!) I've spilt apple juice then chocolate pudding on my gown and now it looks like i pissed and shat myself!"

    Hi Guys, Im trying to track down my old mk2 escort, the reg is GYA 226T and i believe its still white. It was a 4 door but converted to a 2 door.would love to know if its still about.

    can i just clear up. you would only need this sort of speed sensor bracket. if in your mk1 or mk2 escorts you have fitted may be a zetec and A DIFFERENT GEARBOX, SUCH AS MK5 OR RX8 MAZDA that req a speed sensor to trigger the speedo on a aftermarket dash, such as, AIM SOLO HALTECH STACK RACE TECHNOLOGY DASH2 AEM ELECTRONICS. or similar req a electronic speed pickup.

    I'm running 2 MK2 Escorts with MK1 MX5 gearboxes, Thats easy as they have a mechanical speedo drive. But the late rMK3 box , that are used in most conversions use electronic pick up

    Its easy to convert a mechanical speedo drive to an electronic speedo , but not the other way round 😬 Its pretty common conversion, on older cars that have a mechanical speedo, but no one has got around the fix yet.

    No bracket will help you with this. Escort Sport dash has a cable with rotating inners to the gearbox. Little plastic gear inside the box drives this cable. Maybe you could replace the Sport speedo with a similar looking dash from a Sierra which had an electronic speedo.

    r8 gearbox has not got this function as its speedo is controlled by the ecu in mazda. depending on your dash , might be able to connect speed sensor that picks up a signal by using the bolts holding front disc to hub, to calculate the speed, this is where that bracket will help. cheers

    What I need is a way to run a MX5 / R8 Gearbox that has an electronic speedo sensor in the box, to run with my analogue Escort Sport dash 🤪 Any one got ant ideas ?
