Is it not 115% of the individual car that has been uprated rather than the fact there were higher powered models available at the time? ie If your car was a 1300L but you've fitted a 1600 Xflow you couldn't just say "Ah, but the RS2000 had 100bhp which is more than the 1600 Xflow I've fitted"? that's the way I read it as well, its about that particular car and the spec it was produced to, but also on a technicality, didn't the lotus twin cam go out of production in about 1970, in favour of the RS1600, so therefore you couldn't argue that it was available on a later car, and this has nothing to do with the DVLA, the government are just going to use the DVLA point system as an easy way to enable enforcement, which they have no choice in, as its been EU Legislation since 2012 As an aside, assuming we are just talking AVO cars for the moment, what engines were available under the special build program for each ??
-
its not what engine your putting in, its the power to weight ratio change, and yes you are changing the spec of the car, it was lotus twin cams that had that engine, not Mexico's, so why not buy a lotus twin cam instead
-
obviously not read it or read it different to me then, change of engine, box, axle, brakes, and suspension are considered radical changes to its original design specification, just changing the engine, providing it meets below the 15% power to weight ratio will still keep you enough points points, however, upgrade everything else to cope with it, and your stuffed, but just change the engine for one over the 15% power to weight ratio, and your stuffed again, as that's then taken as a singular cause on its own, separate to the pointing system that's how I read it

so Colin the northener is taking this Essex bird called Tina to a show, and a little birdie tell us you need an Escort or two, as her sprung loaded legs are likely to spread, as Tina is known for her airflow as she blows an X-pack, shes a racy little thing, but shes not an Apache on the Escort, her sister Ang Lea, is a little upset to be left at home, as being her sister, she likes to de-mister, she heard the word show, so off came the skirt, as she didn't think this would spoil her, now she feels rejected, as she wasn't elected, to give Colin the blow

by the time you've driven it there in that November weather, youll be starting all over again

proverbial minefield

the plate is no different to my Mk1s, there were more than one type as the years went on, agreed on the screws, something a tad strange
-
same applies to uk tho, early 1300Es were mainly done at AVO in Essex, but carry a Hailwood Vin no. as that's where the shell was started you will probably find that the car started off in one place , then went elsewhere for finishing

you wasn't meant to bite it, it was bound to hurt

i think either a lot of you are either totally mis reading the documents, or just not bothering to read them, or burying your heads in the sand The documents as I read and understand them consultation period has been and gone, everyone had their chance to speak up, that time has now gone, this has been on the horizon for years, the government just didn't know how to comply, and the EU law has been there since 2012 it will be law from 20th May 2018, it will happen the full documents on how you will have to comply will be released in November, at the moment its a draft only the basic jist, if you have a car that's radically modified, you will have to meet the 8 point system to retain your registration no, free tax status and MOT exemption, you will not have the option to carry on as normal and mot and tax your car, unless its stock the loss of your registration no, is to easily identify those modified vehicles, if you cannot prove modification was carried out before 1988, which for most I agree will be virtually impossible, then you will have to comply with the 8 point rule we are still in the EU, and will be for the foreseeable future, therefore we will have to comply, it is an EU law, and we are still only meeting it part way, EU say vehicles over 30 years old should be MOT exempt, we are meeting it at 40 years inline with the road tax, as a result of the consultation, and is mainly based on safety to get to that figure, EU law also states that radically modified vehicles are not and must not be exempt, to comply with that, the government has decided to use the DVLAs 8 point system, although this law has nothing to do with the DVLA as an aside, I have heard of a few people now, having trouble getting V5Cs for cars that have been off the road for a long while, and the DVLA asking for the car to be produced at a particular place, to prove its complete and still as built by the manufacturer to get the V5c, I'm guessing that its getting ready to be part of the above law, both in, does the car actually exist, which combats the selling of V5Cs and if it does, has it been modified

i will definitely let you do mine lol
