  1. it wasnt the price the light is not right, look at it if the light was right, i would buy it at that price
  2. this is so not right, i know its aussie, and its hella/ford, but really http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321728964916?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  3. hi All i wonder if one of you would be able to help, i have had the good fortune to be able to purchase a set of wheels, allegedly removed from a 1300E when it was new, by the dealer as the customer wanted different wheels fitted, 4 of the 5 wheels are certainly in new and original condition, but being 5 1/2J, i suspect they could be MK2 wheels, but they are not deep dish, all 5 tyres are the original Michelin XZX 165x13 tyres that were fitted to the 1300E as standard, and are mint, with not so much as one hairline crack, and no ozoning at all, i will have to re-furb the wheels, but want to get the manufacture date from the tyres, to give me a better idea of the exact age, ive been on the michelin site, but the markings they tell you to look for dont exist on these tyres, i think they are too old for the info given on the michelin site so my question is, does anyone know how to de-code the tyre date on a michelin tyre that old and before its said, i know they are out of shelf life and propably unsafe for road use, but its not going to be an everyday road car, so originality is the key on this one
  4. seconded
  5. just round the corner to you, no wonder you have the same biker experiences lol
  6. its about time they bought in a proper test for cyclists, just like a car or motorcycle, and also make them all have insurance, they can damage the paint on a car same as any other road user and all bikes, push or motor should be banned fron going up the side of cars and pushing in at junctions, that should be an instant ban push bikes should use the pavement on all narrower roads, as they cause an obstruction to cars and lorries what really gets me is, the cycle lanes and priority spaces at junctions, when did you last see a cyclist pay his road tax to pay for that entitlement and dont even start on the subject of horses

  8. your all very lucky people, the best i can do is liten to early 80 stuff and try and fill in the gaps i cant hear from memory, as im 50-60% deaf with most tones, and been going that way since before i was 20, so anything after the 80s i cant hear enough of to appreciate, that said a lot of people tell me thats a blessing lol, trouble is, its anything that comes out of an electronic device, as i cant lip read it, so even phones are difficult, and people cant understand why i rely on text happy listening people ill sit with my tinitus

  10. on the subject of sirens, as many as your alarm will allow, but fit them inside rather than out and close to and above the doors, that way it dosnt draw general attention to what you might have, but if someone does set it off they cannot cope with the noise level inside the garage, you may have to fit the extra sirens yourself though as the alarm companies have laws to comply with, hidden strobes on the outside are good as well there are lots of door security devices, so door dependant will depend on the device(s) used, but a good one on single wooden doors is to bolt on (with security bolts) a thick steel sheet, this is not necesarily to stop the thief from crow barring the door open as you might think, but the trend is/was, and ive seen it happen, to light a fire in front of the wooden door and burn it down, the steel sheet dosnt totally stop this, but it takes a long while to burn it down with it there
  11. lots of grills on e bay cheap enough if u yont want perfect bowls seem to be harder to get

  13. my heating engineer tells me that 7-8 years is now about the rough manufacturers life for a combi, and sure enough ive had 3 fitted in 18 years, because after that point the manufacturers of the first 2 were refusing to support with spares i have a bosch one now, and its been repaired for that once, which was a cracked joint in the filling loop, the boiler kept loosing pressure, but no leak could be found until one day it flooded out, as the water was evaporating while there was heat being generated ours is a condenser boiler and there is a water tank in the boiler, that aids the speed of which you get hot water, (dont ask me how it all works, i just know its there) we have also had this leak, and aparantly is a common fault as well, again, leaks and evaporates or leaks at the back where you dont see it, till one day you have a flood
  14. they are basically a wire brush in resin, but they are excellent, really strong and last for absolute ages, whereas std wheels and brushes just remove the loose and a bit of the surface rust, the mules get right back to the bare metal, and also show the holes in the metal up very quickly
  15. the guy that elded my escort has a montreal, its absolute mint, just shame its brown, but its still nice
  16. for rust, try the mule skinners from frosts restoration, they are the beez neez
  17. well its certainly being talked about now lol, even if its not about last nights content
  18. do you mean its just an hour different, as i thought they used numbers the same as our clocks tbh
  19. that would explain so many cars like that at the shows
  20. mine is in a proper cairoport air fed tent, because i found that even the expensive cover at £280.00 each dont do the car any favours, once loaded with dust when you take them on and off, and they arent easy to wash or have dry cleaned, the down side is that you need a big garage for the cairoport, so if you dont have room for the cairoport, expensive breathable cover every time, its better than left bare, but it was recomended to me not to cover the car till the paint was at least 3 months old it may be that the environment i have them in is just very dusty, but thats what i found, and if you have a convertible, the covers leave the black hood looking the same colour as the cover
  21. its basically just the print date, the one you got was printed in 78, however, if there were any changes to the cars between 78-80, they wont be included in your book, all books printed later will be the full 75-80 if you didnt pay much, then its not worth the hastle sending back, just use it as your dirty copy to use while working on the car, had similar last week, seller wont respond, so e-bay/paypal will refund me the original purchase price and shipping, when i return the item, but wont refund the return postage, so was not worth returning as they were insistant it was returned recorded delivery
  22. i think there could be a hint there that you like a Capri nice ones at that
  23. hopefully, fingers crossed, i found that Holy Grail yesterday on flea bay, pics look corect, just waiting for them to arrive, they are used, but in A1 condition, and defo the correct shape around the bend and at the ends of the threads and came with the plates
  24. quote: both mine and both the way I want them and unsure how I would react if someone told me I shouldn't do it. you should google along the lines of "car modification and the mot" whilst its all in delay, and has been since 2012, if the EU have their way, then that is exactly what will happen, not only shouldnt but cant i think its a few years away yet, due to the implications
  25. original untouched cars are rare, i have one in my pic above, but even then you need to generally do a lot of work to get the car back on track, so in most instances still ends up heavily restored re-back on track, thats exactly what ive had no choice but to do
