  1. I've got a set of bike throttle bodies for a Pinto project, that was the cheap bit, ECU and setup are proving to be the biggest cost although if your handy Megasquirt and Autotune software are supposed to be the cheapest way. I'm still looking at £800 without rolling road though 4 bike carbs on a manifold can be cheap enough and I do have a set of bike carbs in the workshop with 32mm diameter barrels if your interested
  2. My previous car (first car bought for me by dad) was a Morris 1100 in that lovely Lemon, I crashed that, the Cortina I bought myself, had dodgy switches for just turning the rear lights off, I crashed that. Next car was a Triumph Spitfire Mk3, I blew that up, repaired it then crashed it. You getting a theme here?
  3. Oh s41t I've just posted a picture of my own car when I was 19
  4. Wide arches glued to the outside. Boot rack with spare wheel and twin high level stop lights, which say stop! Twin whip aerials with Jolly Roger flag Hand painted

    £5 notes

I had new straight out of a cash machine on the first day, went down the pub and spent them without checking ...... Doh
  6. Loved Hamiltons drive with running the wets till he could fit slicks then squeezing Ricardo, felt sorry for Ricardo as he had done such a good job, was amazed at how bad Rosberg was in the wet. Verstappen whilst having a bad qually was doing very well until he properly binned it, still one to watch though. And Seinze well I'd forgotten about him but a good job done.
  7. I have a Facet silver top through a Malpassi Filter King running about 1.5psi with no issues
  8. My first start with bike carbs also spewed fuel out but this settled after a few mins
  9. 106 bhp at the wheels 0-60 under 7 125 top speed Seems to good to be true More details Diff ratio, tyre size? My Fiesta ST is slower than that and my Lotus 7 with 3.9 diff, 135 bhp FR32 and bike carbs is about the same
  10. S you can see fitting 1600 pistons will only get the 1300 to the same compression ratio as a 1300 LC Still 8 -1 is ok for Turbo application
  11. The only thing that made an RS2000 engine different from a Pinto was the twin choke carb and a better flow twin exit cast exhaust manifold. I can see why some obsess over the right engine in the right car with correct numbers, but that's not for me. The Sierra injection engine with its slightly stronger rods and an unleaded injection head should IMHO always be the base engine to start from
  12. I've just bought a high mileage Fiesta ST 150 while I struggle to find the BMW 330d M sport of my dreams and the Fiesta is a hoot
  13. Check the weights and bhp to find the BHP per tonne then look at the torque curve A much better way of finding which one has the edge
  14. Have a look for the Dawin Awards corroborated reports on stupid things people have done and in the act of killing themselves have done humanity a huge benefit of taking their genes out of the gene pool Some notables are clamping a JATO rocket (solid fuel take off as sister for heavily loaded military bomber) to their car and achieving an uncontrollable 300 mph The red necks who found a large shelll and used it for target practice Now mentioned in dispatches is a section where to numpty did not die but will not be able to reproduce, one guy decided to wash his testies in a golf ball washer
  15. Oh thank you so much What a bonus only £7 with built in DVD
  16. Unless your rallying you won't have them on with the main beam long enough to worry the alternator that much That said the Escort had a 45amp there is a 55Amp and a 70 Amp that should fit
  17. He either took of backwards from the yump on the left or he is flying towards a huge compression when he lands just before the rise He will be a few inches shorten when he gets out that's for sure
  18. Surely if the intent is to build a Cosworth (turbo or NA) and the budget is no object then start with a Cosworth because you'll have a lot of bits you will need, crank, rods, block & flywheel. I'd seriously start trolling Turbosports forum for some definitive tech answers. As you get clarity of the end target (bhp, torque, revs) you will then understand what you need to do to achieve that
  19. 2.1 is only 5% bigger than standard and most 2.1's are less than 2090cc Exhaust size is more about the cam, head flow and max revs
  20. Set a rev limit and stick to it If you use a gear speed calculator you can map speed to revs in gear
  21. Ashley Injection head Kent FR30 or FR34 FR32 if you want a bit more revs and a nice burble on the overrun FR32
  22. In the dim and distant past (38 years ago) I used to thrash mine to valve bounce, it used to boil befor it broke, well it never broke I crashed it. In my opinion 5,600 revs is plenty, you'll be well past peak bhp by then
  23. If your not doing any mileage get soft tyres George Pooley, Demon Tweeks etc Only trouble with soft track type tyres is in the wet they are challenging and make my 7 feel twitchy
