40 year VED exemption - is the Labour writing on the wall again?
Vista Estate replied to Vista's topic in CHIT CHAT
She'll take your sofa too. Money grabbing Labour are just throwing it to other countries so Starmer can look good. The man is a Tool. -
Hi All, this has just gone live on the exhibitor news area of the NECs website. The new site is a bit clunky so I've saved you the trouble of a search. See link: https://www.necclassicmotorshow.com/exhibitor-news/oldskoolford-announces-final-line-up-nec-2025 Now if you haven't got your tickets yet, I know they are not cheap, here's the discount code again. NEC code is CCCNOV5846 It will get you £4 discount. Come and support us on stand 8-050. Did you know its the clubs 21st birthday this year? #IOMFordFest #RetroFordMagazine

I have one from CarLifts. Others that are the same are Kwik Lifts. Its a great addition to the garage and us easy to use.

So is Alison just an AI programme that can be deleted? 🤔 🤣🤣

That's true @Vista. The little darlings at the NEC like to tie us in knots then complain against low ticket sales. As it stands I would sooner now ask for forgiveness than permission if a post on this site accidentally goes onto a public forum. What do you think @Rayand @stephens_xpack?

The Isle of Man FordFest is now in full swing, organised by Scenic Car Tours. First run on the TT course including a pit stop at Peel Castle completed in fantastic weather. The island scenery is wonderful around every corner. It's a great place for a road trip. Don't forget to enjoy a Manx Pie at the Victory Cafe 😋 More cars coming in tonight and tomorrow night on Steam Packet Ferry Company. In total there will be 60 cars on the trip. Watch out for the full coverage in RetroFord Magazine's Christmas Edition. 😊

True @Ray. Both you and @stephens_xpack along with many others have put in an awful lot of work. I joined the clan 2 years ago and can vouch for Ray's comments about how much work it is starting in June. This year the organisers made it harder, even stopping RetroFord Magazine from promoting the show with us. But you can't keep a good gang down 👍. We need your support. As Kellye said its a great day out for the money. I heat you say its expensive but I bet you don't think twice about blowing £50 to £100 on a Saturday night. So come on, stop whingeing and support us this year. Yes we enjoy it but it does cost us time and money. We have new cars on stand this year with a couple of changes now. Vista Estate is being replaced with Mk1 Cortina 1500GT and newbie Rog is bringing his Mk2 RS2000. These will be alongside Malcolm Wilsons first rally car (owned by Neil), a stunning Alan Mann Replica (owned by Ian) and a fantastic Mk3 Cortina (owned by Paul). Remember the discount code is CCCNOV5846! Get your wallets out you miserable buggers! 🤣

Come on everyone, dust off those wallets and spend less than you do on a wheelnut sold through Ebay with the Ford tax. We need to see more of you this year as it's our 16th year at the NEC and the clubs 21st birthday 🎂 🥳

Special build at an eye watering price!
Vista Estate replied to Dave Knight's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CARS FOR SALE
They always over do their prices but they do eventually sell 🤔 -
Special build at an eye watering price!
Vista Estate replied to Dave Knight's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CARS FOR SALE
This company like to over egg the prices for cars that are good but not that good. 🤔 -
Hi All, My mistake code should be CCCNOV5846. Dust off your wallet and call in the moth exterminators and get your backside down to the NEC. We've heard all the excuses so don't try any. Show your support to the team who put on all the hard work to put on an outstanding stand and don't be so tight. Use the code and at least it will ease the pain. A big shout out to @Ray and Mr 80s himself @stephens_xpack once again 👏

You are bang on @stephens_xpack. Vista Estate still poorly, think it will be the debut for the 'Tina.

@Nige65 do you know if your 1600 Sport from SA has a ballast ignition system. I.e 12v at start dropping to 9v running at coil. The Alden Electronic Ignition system has failed on @Dave Knightcar. I helped him check the coil and it is for a non ballast ignition. Alden are saying that all SA Sports are non ballast but everything I read says they are no different to UK cars, unless a previous owner deleted the ballast wire 🤔 This could be the usual get out card for faulty parts but you never know. They did make a strange comment about the coil they supplied with the kit too. I helped Dave test the coil and it had 3ohms primary and only 6000ohms Secondary. Which is very low and usually points to a fried coil. Any help would be appreciated.

What do you need? Maybe a call from someone in the UK may help.

You are right @Miniliteman. Weber are sensitive to fuel pressure. It should be no more than 3psi. And yes the compression should be in the region of 160 to 180psi for a 1600 xflow. 150 is a little low. Vacuum leak is a possible problem usually the carb is not sealing right on the manifold. It's worth checking the accelerator cable adjustment too and spring. The linkage can stick or lightly jam if not aligned. Finally the accelerator pump diaphragm on the carb may have a fault. If its been sitting for a while the diaphragm can get dry and the spring not move right. What's the dizzy like too?

Things are underway now for this years NEC 2025. I know you want to come and support us. It costs too much, I hear you groan! We have the answer to that though you tight so and so's. As we are exhibiting and putting in loads of effort for the club @Ray, @Karlsupersport, @Ian Mclaughlin, @Paul Nicholes and yours truly are hard at work along with a shove from @stephens_xpack when needed to get the cars and stand ready. So here is you discount code. Stop being tight and get down to see us.

Sadly it will never get driven 😪

Hi All I have a brand new Witter tow bar for an Escort Estate 1991 - 1999. It's been in storage a long time and has a bit of surface rust in a couple of places but in great condition. Comes with mounting plates and bolts plus instructions. I'm looking for £60 but open to offers from club members. Message me if you want more info.

Jury is out on that. They used to be but none of the old brands use the same compound mix as they used to do. All to do with the green agenda. I would imagine you need a tyre that can handle the extreme temp changes in Aus, James. So if this is the case a good all season from Michelin and Continental may be the best for long-term.
-
I've used them on my modern car and had no problems. On a classic where mileage is limited they may be a good option too. Yes they are cheaper than brand names but I've not seen any quality issues. In the good old days Michelins used to last forever and Goodyear and Pirellis were excellent too. Not the same now though. Like all things you get what you pay for and if its low to medium miles then go with the Nankangs. 😊
-
Good analysis @Ray. Sometimes what isn't said matters.
-
You've let the cat out of the bag @Ray! It was going to be sunstrips this year (as long as they are orange). What do you say @Vista? 🤣
