Thanks Ray. It is the correct pump from a pressure point and has correct bolts and spacer. I think it's the ethanol issue as the pump doesn't work off the car either and when I stripped to look the diaphragm was very slack. Something to watch out for.

I saw another post about QH & Firstline as they own Borg & Beck too. It's a real problem for us all going forward.

I would love to get a NOS AC Delco pump but good ones are like rocking horse droppings and crap ones on fleebay a crazy prices.

Yeah I fitted this on both. They just stop sucking fuel. It's annoying as they are in an awkward place and you need extra long arms. Off the car there is no suction at all. I think it's poor quality diaphragms.

Hi All, Has anyone else had problems with replacement fuel pumps for Escort Xflow from Firstline. They are FFP445. I've had two now that have lasted less than 500 miles. The supplier has replaced them without question, but when they have queried a manufacturing problem with Firstline they have said nothing is wrong. The pump just suddenly stops working and removing the pipe from the carb and cranking the engine shows no fuel. It's a mechanical pump so simple. When tested off the car there is no suction. When I take it apart I can't see any splits but the diaphragm looks stretched. I wondered if the diaphragms are inferior. I'm using Shell Premium V Power Unleaded but I wonder if the ethanol is affecting the rubber. Any thoughts?

1 out of 3 I suppose isn't bad for us northern boys then. Perhaps they don't know we have Classic Fords in the North. I was hoping that they would alternate the Classic Ford Show each year so its North then South etc but unfortunately it seems no one is listening at Classic Ford. It's a long way to travel and the accommodation is super expensive. #levelingup 🤣

The other interesting part was the addition of a grease nipple. This is a crucial element for longevity. We know these are important as classic car owners but i wonder if the new Merc owner will get their hands dirty. It won't be on the service list at the Merc dealer.

Thanks, the faulty fuel pump is something I've just experienced hence the question. I fitted a new mechanical one only 300 miles ago. It was fine for a while then just started to hit and miss until it gave out. New one supplied FOC thankfully. I have taken the faulty one apart and can't see why it failed. Poor aftermarket spares unfortunately even though it was Firstline.

Have you checked a RAL paint chart? This would give the easiest solution (see attached) Or why not take your hose to the nearest car paint supplier and they will help you narrow down the blues to a best match.

It will keep you busy. Parts are not easy to get plus the Ford tax is crazy at the moment. I don't mind people making money but at least they should clean the stuff they are selling.
