Admin Vista Posted April 10, 2007 Admin Report Posted April 10, 2007 Ford made some mk1 4WD capris themselves using a ferguson 4wd system
escort21 Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Yeah think they were outlawed in ralling at the time 'cause they were to good
Retromotorsport Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 which car do you prefer driving , as in what one gives the best feel. If its the capri over the 4x4 why turn the capri into the 4x4?
Slik 50 Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 The first thing that went through my head was: 4x4 = not much fun

andrewg1323 Posted April 10, 2007 Author Report Posted April 10, 2007 you know me just like to do something new, esp as some gits already built a zetec capri and got it mag featured i need something else extra And after attempting to strip down the box i think making a complete 4x4 setup would be easier than trying to follow haynes type 9 dissasembly instructions!
Retromotorsport Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 so do a Duratec capri... be the first of those !!!! or do a capri from the 70's .... v6 with fake bug catcher,,, oooh ooh and 3 slash cut under each door, jack up bars so the axle moves half a foot sideways in the corners .. full draylon and fur interior, rear portholes, candy flake paint with gold metalflake flames.. red light on the diff ... fox'es tail on a whippy ... oooh wheres me 8 track

Rick Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 crappy 70's mods... you must have seen the capris with pile carpet and tassels and sparkly paint
Rick Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 heres a mild modern example of crap styling imagine this with pink furry seats and a crappy airbrushed bonnet of a tiger or somet
Retromotorsport Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 or do a capri from the 70's .... v6 with fake bug catcher,,, oooh ooh and 3 slash cut under each door, jack up bars so the axle moves half a foot sideways in the corners .. full draylon and fur interior, rear portholes, candy flake paint with gold metalflake flames.. red light on the diff ... fox'es tail on a whippy ... oooh wheres me 8 track Ah-hah, sprung, so it was you that was selling that nasty Fantasia Capri pick up on eBay Vista ... i notched the chassis rails on my first Escort when i was 16 And when i was about 10-11 used to oggle a marroon 105E slammed, hot x-flow and the sill was notched where his 4 slash cuts came out off... that thing was plenty quick enough to beat the big V's down the bypass , 'specially when they tried to go round the roundabouts ... and its probably that car that got me interested in suspensions. I could never follow the fashions
andrewg1323 Posted April 10, 2007 Author Report Posted April 10, 2007 seeen that ebay capri its nasty then some
X-pack-Glyn Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Furgusson made several 3 litremk3 4x4 capris.... personally think its not a good idea, part of having a capri is getting your arse out everywhere you go
GarethB Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 I've been thinking about a Mk3 Tina Estate and putting a Granada 2.9 Cosworth engine in and for the shows I go to that are a bit muddy then 4x4 would help. That would make a nice tow vehicle to trailer the RS3100 places
Alan Cox Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 I like your thinking gareth, i'm always worred about getting the mk2 transit stuck, with the fez on the back. 4x4 transit....... Mmmm now there is a thought - lol
Essex Boy Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Half the fun of a Capri is the handling 4x4 Transit already done on the later ones
Twinkle Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 so do a Duratec capri... be the first of those !!!! ask gaz for details
bortaf Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 They did 4X4 Mk2 transits as well Offer up an XR4x4 front Xmember and see whats what, at least they both have struts so i spose you could swap sierra tops over into the capri inner wings
Admin Vista Posted April 11, 2007 Admin Report Posted April 11, 2007 so do a Duratec capri... be the first of those !!!! ask gaz for details Puleeeeze no don't open that can of worms again
GarethB Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 Any engine transplant in a Capri if its to be moded has to be a V6 or a V8
