Slik 50 Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 me brother had an 8v one when he passed his test it was a dark metalic purple with the same wheels as above, slightly lower, debaged grill and a fookin low splitter oh and a karmen interior and blacked out windows. It was one of the nicest Corrados I have ever seen, very subelety (SP) and he is planning his next one but with a 20v turbo engine out of a golf
Delotus Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 I've been into vws for a very long time. I've owned more of them than i can remember. I've restored many a vw beetle,camper,mk1 golf gti's etc etc and to be honest the carrado was voted the best vw ever by all the vw clubs around the world. Think the supercharged ones are superb myself but tempramental and expensive when they go wrong to repair. They are a superb car and your brothers is a cool looking motor. Tim
Twinkle Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 not sure about them myself, if they were rear wheel drive then deffo Wot he sed. snap!! if they were rwd i would have one on my drive right now
DEP Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 I had the pleasure of driving the VR6 one when i use to work at the car auctions,I liked it
Jay_harrier Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 Certain models like the G60 & some of the VR6's/storms etc will but the rest will just be like the Scirocco & disappear into non existence. Trouble is they weren't ground breaking cars in the way the MK1 Golf GTi & 205 GTi were.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 I had the pleasure of driving the VR6 one when i use to work at the car auctions,I liked it I owned a K Reg VR6 in aqua blue pearl which I had to sell when I got a job in manchester which involved a daily 80 mile round trip. I swapped it for a Laguna Diesel to half my petrol bill.. I loved it, and still love them. I would probably still have it now if I hadn't had to sell it.
Admin Vista Posted May 14, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 14, 2007 I've owned 3 Corrado's a 16V a G60 and a VR6 and I love them Forget all this they're FWD stuff and nonsense, they're a fabulous drive with pin sharp handling, great engines and aren't bogged down with lots of extra weight from air bags / air con and all the other unneccessary junk you don't need. In short, if they still made them I'd still be buying them.
RFChris Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 I ain't got nothing but time for a nice Corrado!
over_head_cam Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 I drove a VR6 and all I got was torque steer
Admin Vista Posted May 14, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 14, 2007 I drove a VR6 and all I got was torque steer what's wrong with you man, hold that wheel a bit harder and show it who's boss
Alan G Posted May 14, 2007 Author Report Posted May 14, 2007 He's fitteed coilovers all round and I quite like the drive off it, handles wel around the country bends without skipping out! He's got a few plans for the engine, it's the 2.0 16v lump but maybe a supercharger is on the way!!
james p Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 if i could insure one i wouldnt say no sweet ride
Jimsiss Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 the G60's are quick, the G-lader superchargers require regular servicing and rebuild by proffesionals such as PSD or Jabbasport, the VR6's are brilliant too, they leave most cars standing. my bro can get a corrado 1.8 for £600 but because of insurance costs he can't afford it, looks like we'll just have to stick a 1.8 GTi engine in his scirroco. one of the guys my bro works with has a corrado and it looks sweet slammed
arch Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 i love em my uncle has a vr6 quik as it is an a guy i no has jus bought 1 of the limited edition strom vr6 1s. an wen i was in america i saw the g60 supercharged 1 i beleave an crist wen he put his foot down on the freeway he was gone lol but i like urs alan g looks reall tidy

Little known fact is that in stock trim the Corrado VR6 had a higher output than the Golf one.
arch Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 o ryt well it must of been tuned up or sumthing because it realli did fly
Mr Sam Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 He's fitteed coilovers all round and I quite like the drive off it, handles wel around the country bends without skipping out! ZetecVan 2.0 Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Quick story. I was in my VR6 on the sliproad of the M62. There was an old white Nova SR in front with 4 chavs in. I was up its bumper on the slip road. When we joined the motorway it went in front of a wagon, and I backed off and went behind it. I tootled along at 50 or 60 for a mile or so before the motorway cleared. I'd seen the Nova speed up. I put my foot down and passed it at 120, then backed off cos I was coming off at the next junction. I'd slowed down to 60 and this nova comes up in the middle lane blowing his horn. The chavs were going 'come on, race ya'. I just laughed at them, dropped to 3rd and planted my foot leaving them for dead.
mk2_escort_chick Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 My dad had a mk2 scirocco (the corrado's older bro) and that was such a great car! Dad still has a pic of it in his wallet- no pic of me or mum, just the car! I'm a fan of a few vw's Me likey very much!
Pye Man Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Personally I quite like em! There seems to be a few families with a Ford/VW split down the middle.
