me brother had an 8v one when he passed his test it was a dark metalic purple with the same wheels as above, slightly lower, debaged grill and a fookin low splitter oh and a karmen interior and blacked out windows.

It was one of the nicest Corrados I have ever seen, very subelety (SP) and he is planning his next one but with a 20v turbo engine out of a golf

I've been into vws for a very long time.

I've owned more of them than i can remember.

I've restored many a vw beetle,camper,mk1 golf gti's etc etc and to be honest the carrado was voted the best vw ever by all the vw clubs around the world.

Think the supercharged ones are superb myself but tempramental and expensive when they go wrong to repair.

They are a superb car and your brothers is a cool looking motor.

Certain models like the G60 & some of the VR6's/storms etc will but the rest will just be like the Scirocco & disappear into non existence.

Trouble is they weren't ground breaking cars in the way the MK1 Golf GTi & 205 GTi were.

I had the pleasure of driving the VR6 one when i use to work at the car auctions,I liked it 8)

I owned a K Reg VR6 in aqua blue pearl which I had to sell when I got a job in manchester which involved a daily 80 mile round trip. I swapped it for a Laguna Diesel to half my petrol bill..

I loved it, and still love them. I would probably still have it now if I hadn't had to sell it.

I've owned 3 Corrado's a 16V a G60 and a VR6 and I love them

Forget all this they're FWD stuff and nonsense, they're a fabulous drive with pin sharp handling, great engines and aren't bogged down with lots of extra weight from air bags / air con and all the other unneccessary junk you don't need. In short, if they still made them I'd still be buying them.

He's fitteed coilovers all round and I quite like the drive off it, handles wel around the country bends without skipping out! He's got a few plans for the engine, it's the 2.0 16v lump but maybe a supercharger is on the way!!

the G60's are quick, the G-lader superchargers require regular servicing and rebuild by proffesionals such as PSD or Jabbasport, the VR6's are brilliant too, they leave most cars standing.

my bro can get a corrado 1.8 for £600 but because of insurance costs he can't afford it, looks like we'll just have to stick a 1.8 GTi engine in his scirroco.

one of the guys my bro works with has a corrado and it looks sweet slammed 8)

G60 isn't as quick as a VR6 though, 160bhp as I recall as opposed to the VR6's 190. Little known fact is that in stock trim the Corrado VR6 had a higher output than the Golf one.

Quick story.

I was in my VR6 on the sliproad of the M62. There was an old white Nova SR in front with 4 chavs in. I was up its bumper on the slip road. When we joined the motorway it went in front of a wagon, and I backed off and went behind it. I tootled along at 50 or 60 for a mile or so before the motorway cleared. I'd seen the Nova speed up. I put my foot down and passed it at 120, then backed off cos I was coming off at the next junction.

I'd slowed down to 60 and this nova comes up in the middle lane blowing his horn. The chavs were going 'come on, race ya'. I just laughed at them, dropped to 3rd and planted my foot leaving them for dead.
