gotta put my old clutch back in as the new one isnt working what is the quickest was to change it engine out (i prefer this one but probably harder) or take the gearbox out (gonna be a bitch rolling about wth a gearbox on ya chest but may be quicker)

what should i do????

please vote and coment on wat you would do and convince me:wink:

That happened with me when I first did the zetec conversion. It turned out the clutch cover I'd been supplied wasn't the right one.

I had the engine or box out four or five times in a couple of weeks. I found it was easier to take the engine out as I hate crawling under a car with a gearbox on my chest.

yer i think thats wat hapened to me...

bought brand new clutch and friction plate off ebay £30 i guess it is the wrong one being as it dont fooking work :x

gonna put the old one back in aS its still got a lot of life to live and it worked fine.

i thought it was common sense to stick a new clutch in being as id replaced the engine and had it out at the time

a lesson to all of us!! IF IT AINT BROKEN DONT FIX IT

gearbox out mate, tie the tail up through the gearlever hole and then you've only gotta lift half ther weight

Did you only change the friction plate? I cant see that causing the problems you're having.

Personally I'd take the gearbox out - the 4 speed isnt that heavy and not to bad to fit, even on your own.

i had this same problem recently with my pinto, couldn't find the problem so swapped the clutch. turned out the granny preasure plate i used didnt pull down tight enought on the clutch plate. . . oh well, live and learn  oh yeah i just dropped the box .

just drop the box out, tie the back up through g-lever hole, piece off piss mate... especially 4spd......

Just take the box out. Its not the heaviest thing in the world and is much quicker than messing about taking the engine AND gearbox out. No point making more work for yourself.

TREID IT OUT ONCE IT WAS FINNISHED AND ITS BACK HOW IT USED TO BE :thumbsup:

I THINK THE PROBLEM WITH THE NEW CLUTCH IS MY LEAVER DID NOT COMPRESS THE FRICTION PLATE ENOUGH TO RELEASE THE CLUTCH SO IT WAS CONSTANTLY JAMMED ON....... IT DOES SAY ON THE BOX THAT IT WAS FOR A ESCORT MK2/MK1 DO YOU RECON IT COULD BE AN RS ONE???
