pimtina Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I'm with you Doc.Last few cars I've done-get them painted pretty, interiors spotless, motors running like a watch, get all the gremlins sorted, get bored with it, sell it off for pennies on the dollar. That's why I have vowed to never finish the Cortina!
marky4 Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 doc don't do any thing rash, once you've ragged it afew times it will soon put a big smile back on your face and just wait for the the great comments you will get from peeps when they see it at shows / meets will make you feel so proud give it time m8

I dont understnd it either Im at wonderland this week and something else going on saturday so im hoping that will rekindle some enthusiasm . Im not really in with the scots capri crowd so non of my mates are interested either . I really need to move home (Ashford Kent) to really ebjoy this car ....
QuadCamCapri Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I feel the same with mine a lot of the time, there is no enjoyment to be had in London crawling between traffic lights and giving it a little tickle in between speed cameras. So tend to just use it for a few shows and trackdays. Probably get more fun out of playing with it and making bits up, which I guess is one reason why I went racing as it gives you a good excuse to keep fiddling in search of those fractions of second. You could always park it up and just look at it as it looks so right. But not before you've taken it to a few shows as I'm looking forward to seeing it
Rick Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 dont be glum/ you achieved what a lot of people never do, id say 60% of peoples projects never actually finish/ enjoy iy and then think of your next mod
Gareth Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 If it doesn't have one, fit an LSD, believe me it makes it more fun!!!!
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 28, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 28, 2007 Doc, you need to get your arse back down here to the South ... you can really enjoy the car with us Southerners then
PaulAshman Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 DON'T GET LIKE THAT DOC. ONCE YOU GET OUT THERE AND GIVE IT A GOOD HAMMERIN' YOU'LL KNOW WHY YOU HAVE DONE ALL THAT WORK. ITS A SWEET CAR
S2 Dee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Doc, I understand how you feel but you will get your building fix from project Palmer. You have put so much into your Capri emotionally, financially and physically now that it is done there is going to be a void. Once you hit some shows you will be overwhelmed by peoples reaction to your car. There is also the driving, just get out there and enjoy it, pretty soon there will be something else you want to do to the car.
Anglia68 Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Hey Doc, Here's a link to a thread on Retro Rides where your Capri gets a mention.Enjoy. http://retrorides.proboards86.com/index ... 1179933741

Therfore its all a bit jaded. I really feel its all a bit of an anti climax! Post completion blues ! I know that feeling, "now what do I do with it?", for me it's the planning, build & figuring out new ways of doing things. It was the same for all the other car and bike projects - finish it, do the rounds showing it off, a mad 20 minutes every week or so then park it up in the garge with a sheet over it. Hopefully this time I'll get drawn into the OSF community with meets/trackdays etc so it sees some use (if it ever stops raining and warms up...)
