orionmojo Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 never really got that with mine tbh, just 'whats that?' i did have one guy say though 'if i had a pound for the amount of those i've scrapped' i said, its worth more than a tenner now though he shut up!
tinky Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 never really got that with mine tbh, just 'whats that?' i did have one guy say though 'if i had a pound for the amount of those i've scrapped' i said, its worth more than a tenner now though he shut up! Classic!!! Usually the hyper critical people are either jealous (no really!) of your car and feel the need to put yours down or ignorant of the time money etc & of course knowledge needed to make your car what it is Another rant over....
tazrocks88 Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 i have recently had mates moaning that there are not gonna be "proper" seatbelts in the back of my car. i keep saying it wasnt made with them so why should i put them in. there argument safety comes before money and originality ! we all get it but to show them wat we see all that is needed is for them to be shown up on the road or given a lift somewhere makes most people see wat its about
Osgood Isgood Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 You can tell if people are taking the micky in a jovial way or not...sounds like the original post on this thread was said with animosoty though, and a dignified silence is usually the best bet....though maybe with a simple "you fu*kwit" as you turn your back on them, just to confirm your contempt of their small minded attitude. I get the piss ripped out of me every time I drive the Anglia to work (two or three times a week) but it's all done in a good spirit. One guy runs a fekking great American Jeep with a V 8 and another is building a hot rod (doing a lovely job too). They constantly harp on about how slow my stock Angle-box is but I just challenge them to a reliability trial...one gallon of petrol each and see who goes the furthest...it usually shuts them up!!
cyrix Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 What can you do? Some people just are not interested in old Fords, I don't blame them I dont like old British/Vauxhalls etc. But I wouldn't tell someone I thought thier car was shit. Had it a few weeks back when I was dropping my 2Door Mk3 Cortina off at a bodyshop, two guys working on a MG Rover asked if I was taking it for scrap, had to bite my tongue hard. The doors on my car are worth more than your average MG Rover.
Pye Man Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 I used to always get...You could have bought a new car for the amount of money youve spent on that!!!! My reply, why the fook would I want to blend into obscurity!!! Which sadly im doing now in the mondex
Osgood Isgood Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 [ Which sadly im doing now in the mondex I'm off Mondeo/Vectra shopping this week-end. The Golf GTi 3 door just aint the job since the wee fella arrived 11 months ago! Shame it's got to go because it really is a great car but needs must! But who cares, I've still got the Angle box for fun !!!
skr80a Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 I bet the person who said that to you Dazza either does not drive or drives a Poxall ?
Josh_gsy Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 Im still waiting on my capri to turn up, but when i used to drive minis i ised to get loads sarcastic comments from my mates till i lost one of them through some corners and he was in a Renault 19! and as from complete strangers i used to smile and just remind them that my car looks better, more fun to drive and wont risk screwing up if it just gets a flat battery. and remind them the comparison of service bills!
Gareth Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 i agree! my boss asked me today if i broke down anywhere nice this weekend That could be him jus messin Antz m8 But what Dazza got was bad it wears thin when i get it every week and have been for the last 8 months but dazza i can feel for you. the turd deserves a punch! go in tommorow and give him what for! After 8 months???? Your boss must be one the most immature muppets on God's green Earth!!!! I wouldn't even let it phase me, jus politely insult his limited intelligence by saying some thing with a relaxed smile For example: Boss:"broke down anywhere nice this weekend?" Antz:"Do you feel more like a man when you ask questions like that?"
Supercharged Nat Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 i had something earlier: i was filling up at the petrol station and a poxy punto was next to me, it had 4 guys in it, all layed back/ badass (you know the kind) and they were pointing and laughing... when we drove out they were behind me, so i just redlined it and dumped the clutch, i didnt actually move forward the rears just lit up and they got a lung full of tyre smoke and black exhaust fumes then i eased off a little an shot off leaving them sat there.... made me feel better anyways. what gets me though is you just know they were sat there thinking that the 1.2 punto they were in was the dogs danglys! hahahahahaha

Pen!s, it was a 50 zone, needless to say I went back down to the limit Second was I took my m8 out for a blast along the sam bit of dual carriageway. We go by a 530 BMW, and stop at the same lights next to an MR2. he stops behind us... So I give it some form the lights and he ended up eatin my exhaust fumes So much for modern engines being more powerful etc
Noodles Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 I had a bmw off the lights when I was drivin sarahs renult 5 complete with furry steering will covers and little misses everywhere he wasnt happy
Jay_harrier Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 What do they drive a focus or a tigra boring Easy on the Focus!, quality everyday car - if my MK2 sticks to the road in the same way I'll be happy. They are a bit dull though, useful for carrying the golf clubs
Noodles Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 My bros got a focus but I like to drive something a bit different just me I suposse
Chris! Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 in all the times ive been out in the cortinas ive never had anyone slag it off Me and dad have done 10000 miles in the red/gold mk1 and never had anyone say nout bad about just good stuff Maybe it will change once i start using the mk1 in my sig
ever88 Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 if you have an OSF that goes though that makes it even sweeter. I had my anglebox on road less than a day when a 220 turbo rover dude and girl friend were laughing at me waiting at some lights. pissed him right off when I left him in my wake even with all that whizz, pop and dump bag shit. couldn't bring himself to look over at the next set of lights but I was glowing inside. I'm smiling as I write this. ah the memories
