Just for you mate, and especially as you asked 3 times  I'll bring it along to something so you can see it. I take it I won't be ostracised if I turn up at a boxhill meet in it?

Meanwhile here's a reminder as Retro is right most people have never seen one. There were less than 180 RHD examples made world wide, probably less than 120 of those still exist and not all of them are road worthy.

A word of caution to anyone who wants one, the fuel injected V8 looks and sounds lovely and revs to around 8000rpm (unlike most V8's) but be wary, it's a temperamental and complicated beast! plus parts are many 100's times rarer than Ford ones

giving all the more modern cars a few posting rooms and whatnot may actually be a good idea aslo for generating a bit more income to the site.

the thing is the stereotypical view of the mk3 escort driver, is that of a spotty chav with a bangin soundsystem who cant string a sentence together.

i can understand the site owners wanting to keep it free of that but to be honest there are better sites out there for them and their stay at OSF will prob be shortlived due to lack of tech info etc for their cars.

its all down to the opinion of the site owners really.

im happy either way

That's probably a bit out of date that view now though. By and large that kind of owner has moved on to more modern machinery especially as they can get low rate finance for them.

Treat them like birds m8  Just jog on if there not your taste :ykt:

wise words of wisdom there :mrgreen:

i couldnt belive it when i reached a stand with a kitted lime green mondeo :lol: still there was enough good stuff on our stand

I personally thought there was more late model stuff there than in previous years & if the event is put on by classic ford mag then i personally expect to see the kind of stuff thats featured in the mag,its all very well saying if you dont like it walk past but its a bit of a dissapointment to travel all that way only to have to ignore half the stuff on display!

You dont see modern car owners slating the older cars at car shows, its usually the opposite, they look upon the old fords as the Heritage of Ford, as for all the "plastic crap" being there, if there was a new GT40 there.. would you all be saying its a "bucket of shite" , "shouldnt be here, its our show" .. etc etc

Most owners of modern stuff have respect for the old stuff because they have been there before, owned them restored them etc. As for the GT40 im sure many of us apreciate the cars for what they are, some are great pieces of engineering some are lime green bodykitted mondeos

You go to a concert to see the Rolling Stones, and you have to sit through 5 songs by another band first.

But youd be pissed off if you had to sit through 2 hours of other bands & only hear 1/2 hour of rolling stones,or be told "well if you dont like the other bands then dont listen to them"!

Reading through other threads it seems like the autojumble has already suffered, there was certainly more late model stuff on display that i noticed.I dont see whats wrong with wanting a show for our classics especially when the other stuff is so well catered for already,if i want to see 20 minilite wearing-pastel coloured-mk1 escorts i expect to see them at classic ford show & if i want to see 20 focus RS' in a row i expect to see them at ford fair!!.Im all for a bit of variety but dont want to be looking back in 5 years time wondering what happened to a great show.

But if they are not there then isnt that the same as ignoring them???

And also if they are not there then that a big chunk of money thats lost and could see then end of the show due to lack of money.

If theres not enough Old School cars there to make a show... then we wont have the show... if it became like you suggest above "1/2 hour stone 2 hours another band" then it would be called Ford Fair

Its not so much the numbers of cars.. its the wording of some comments

I just dont like to see peoples pride and joys called crap.. not in public , you can say to yourself that its horrible, but someone who has restored a series 1 RST to concourse condition surely desserves the same respect that is given to anyone of us on here that has restored their cars. Not to have it publicly slated as a "plastic pile of poo"

perhaps i listened to John Lennon too much as a kid .. perhaps i'm not as defensive as some appear to be or perhaps its just because i have my own mind and can look at what i want to look at.

You know .. personally you'll never see me looking at a restored concourse car.. I have seen them before, they hold no interest in me what so ever, but if the owner is there i'll congratulate him on a cracking job and with a wink say it would look good with arches.

So should i be saying " no standard cars ..only modified cars" as that what i like looking at.. i wouldnt because that is unfair.

And at the end of the day.. the modern cars where on stands that where invited to the show.. you know.. all petrolheads getting along together in a field .. a field full of dreams ... The Focus owner looking lovingly at the concourse Anglia.. dreaming one day he will have one.. and the Anglia owner looking at the ST220 .. thinking i could use that everyday ...

Its a show.. lets just show..

Its sound like football... my teams best, yours is crap.. lets fight on the pitch .. and thats wrong

I can in fact see both points of view on this

You can't for instance invite a club (such as the RSOC for instance) and then go on to tell them that they can only bring certain models of car. You either invite the club, or you don't.

When walking around you can only look at the cars you're interested in and therefore aren't really too affected by the presence of more modern machinery.

On the other hand, there are far more more modern cars available to attend these shows, so the more of them that come the more the enthusiast for the older cars will feel pushed aside, they are therefore less likely to attend the following year.

Personally I have to be honest this was my first time at CF show and I had a whale of a time, met lots of new and interesting people, saw some fabulous cars and some great track action. BUT if I had driven all that way to find that the majority of cars there were modern (ish) ones I probably wouldn't have wanted to come back next year. I think the blend is ok as it is, but it does need careful monitoring to ensure it doesn't get taken over by later cars.

My principal reason for skipping Ford fair is that I don't want to travel all that way and spend all that petrol money to see cars that I can see 2 miles down the road in a Ford showroom, or worse still in my local supermarket car park.

Vista raises a good point there which i brushed on earlier ,,

If its a modern car club, then they should be on the fringes like we as old schoolers are at the modern shows.. the RSOC should be in the middle ground, old and new cars.. the pure old school clubs at the trackside ..

That way if you dont want to see new cars dont wander too far away from the track..

Sounds a sensible compromise

so where was the oldskool ford stand :lol::lol:

i must open my eyes a bit wider next year

Yes you should.

As to this thread, as Gary has said just walk past. As some of you know I take my 12 year old daughter to most of these shows as she luvs old fords but she's got a right gob on her and I had to tell her on Sunday, If you see a car and you like it, by all means say so but if you see one that you dont like keep it shut, the owners probably spent a lot of time/money getting it to how he/she likes it, if you can't say anything positive, dont say anything at all.

That the one who told Al to stop?

I can understand everyones points and I don't mind modern Fords. In fact,I buy Performance Ford the odd time. But,at the Mosney show, there was a '97 Jaguar XJR amidst a few Capris....but there was a Pop in the car park!!WTF???

I dont want to start a massive arguement or anything, but what is classed as a classic?

A car thats 25 yrs or older, 10 years or older?

There seems to be no set age.

Yes there was a lot of plastic there, but I had plenty of osf's to look at and keep me busy!!

its not so much about what is a classic car.. its about invited clubs .. invite the RSOC and you'll get all the RS's .. not just the old ones

Invite the Focus OC ... and funny enough you'll get Focus's..

And those clubs are invited becvause its a Ford day.. and at the end of it we are all petrolheads who love cars .. or should be .

Yes there was a lot of plastic there, but I had plenty of osf's to look at and keep me busy!!

Exactly .. Sarah looked at what she wanted to see..

And no one has picked up on the Fiesta in the park .. am i right in saying they only wanted festers there and some said thats wrong on this very site ????

Its clubs.. clubs for petrol heads.. and if your into cars then surely you can appriciate the cars for what they are .. The RS Focus is a far better car than the RS1600 .. they are like chalk and cheese.. but to say that the Focus RS is a pile of shite is bollox. And in my opinion a very narrow minded view.

Without the numbers being swelled by the visiting clubs there would be no "Classic Ford" show... theres just not the numbers to make it viable.. unless the ticket price was doubled.

I know i keep banging on about this ... but i just want the site to come across as what it is.. a friendly place. Helps if you have OSF .. but when you look at the numbers of members then the number of car pics on here, its obvious that some members dont own an OSF .. I dont for one, so should i leave?

I own a Focus and a BMW ... but i like Old Fords, always have ... always will.

I've got Ians 105e in here on one of the ramps... and last night as i was leaving it probably took me 1/2 an hour to get out, i was just looking at it .. thinking its Cute.. looking at the lines etc .

I can appriciate the old cars .. and want to see them, and yes my BMW was on a stand, if i was banned from having my car on the club stand i wouldnt have gone to the show. I'd of stayed in the workshop saturday and sunday and earnt some money ... instead of drinking with friends, advising some new friends on saturday and then spending sunday trying to be polite whilist nursing a huge hangover.

I made a mention of listening to John Lennon too much as a kid ..

I'll leave this thread with his words.

"Imagine there's no Heaven

It's easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one "

Its about the people and cars ... not whats old or new, old and new can be in the same place.

Right im going to stick my two cents in now.

I love cars, engines, twin carbs and turbos. I get really hacked off with all this talk of " there was plastic crap at the show blah blah blah " I reminds me of bloody school mine`s better than yours and all that.

Ive had a few old fords mainly capri`s. Ive just restored my 85 2.8i special and love it. Now ive purchased an 82 escort rs1600i. Now before all you old skoolers jump down my throat at the near mention of a mk3 escort, let me point out the escort is older than my capri, it is a classic and there is no more plastic on the escort than on my capri.

Now if the so called trully hardcore oldskoolers live by there word then prehaps they should pull out there nice new zetec or cosworth engines and there modern brakes and suspension seeing as they are ` hard core oldskoolers`.

Most clubs and shows die because they start excluding certain makes and models. You end up with mk1 capri pre facelift show with about 3 people attending.

Anyway I love my old fords and I will gladley have a  and chat with anyone who dissagrees.

Cheers guys.

Dont you guys think this chat is a bit stupid?

while i think there was too many plastics at the show, i have to agree with gary, just walk past.

Have any of you been to a VW show? The Vw scene always seems to be 100% accomodating to all model types, did doesnt matter if its a aircooled type 2, a ratty caddy pickup, a mint Mk1 GtI or a late model Passat, everyone just seems to park up next to each other and enjoy.

Maybe we should try to follow their lead?

This all sounds very much like the nsra forum and I made all the same points. As for the weekend BRILLIANT. Although we didn't get to walk round this year.

I do have a thing going on in my head about new cars in a Classic ford show but it didn't spoil the show for me as i walked past them with out even looking at them..........i have a modern Ford but wouldn't think of taking it to Classic Ford .......as it doesn't have sole as Clarkson say's

I think the cut off is about the Mk 3 Cortina for me
