Mr Sam Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 its all about taking part i was suposed to be racing my mate in his supra cirica 400bhp 13sec capable unfortunatly i got a civic ok he thrashed me but he didnt sound as good and its the adrenaline whether ur winning or loosing and also the fact you can do whateve speed you want as your not on public roads.........ok i only made 62mph
tim Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 hi guys i can see where antz is coming from us poor student types (or unemployed school drop outs like me) a 200mile each way trip is quite alot of money in petrol and the osfdc is a regular thing and i know its not an expensive thing in the grand scheme of racing and stuff but its still quite a bit of money when you add it all up ... considering ppl like antz still being in education and (not insult to him) probably earning less in a week then some of you will earn in a day .... a group thrash for the young guys is like a one off thing (wouldnt have to be but u know what i mean) and itd be easier to commit too just my thoughts u get lost goin 2 the pod from stevenage then 200 miles each way
over_head_cam Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 It's going to cost you the same whether you join in with the OSFDC or whether you go on your own chaps. I still don't get it
tim Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 It's going to cost you the same whether you join in with the OSFDC or whether you go on your own chaps. I still don't get it least am not the only 1 then
perry Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 cant beat a bit of heads up no offence to those involved as you do a great job but handicap systems arnt for me , its below bracket racing on my prefered list i cant afford , or want to trailer my car to the strip , gut the interior in the pits , bolt on the slicks and neither can i run consistant times all day long like you are you cant beat the feeling of sitting next to a car waiting for the light to change , in the knowledge they could have set their car up as badly as you have yourself and wondering as you sit there spinning the wheels wishing you used less revs are they still next to you or have they missed a gear like you did on your previous run id be gutted if i was against a car that left me for dead and afterwards being told i won to me a win is whoever crossed the line first

When I line up against a rwd Pinto powered car, I want to beat it across the line whatever the handicaps might be.
over_head_cam Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Perry mate. Tell me how then, you would choose an opponent? I'm completely bemused. I have a 1300 escort. I dare say (no offence intended) I earn more money than you, have more experience with old fords than you and have a fair idea about running up the strip. But if we raced, you'd win. That's obvious isn't it? Your car is lighter and more powerful than mine. Or perhaps we should have a handicap system
perry Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 i fully respect that maybe next year there will be a lot more people ( and respect from the santa pod staff ) so it can be organised so its more like qualifying , where 1300s race against 1300s all the way up to the proper racers would also mean that those with the great cars can get a chance to watch the novices/youth early on in the day and then everyone can sit and watch the 13 second cars later on
over_head_cam Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Excellent. So how many classes would there be? And if only one 950 Fezza turns up does that me he don't get a go?
bashmk1 Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Excellent. So how many classes would there be? And if only one 950 Fezza turns up does that me he don't get a go? yeah, sod him. if you havent got any mates, piss off!
perry Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 there wouldnt need to be seperate classes . messenjah , antz etc are just stating that they want to race against people with similar spec ( small ) and experience ( none ) being truthfull no one wants to see a 10sec car against a 20sec car , the 10sec guy will be bored and the 20sec one demoralised surely they are just asking to run against each other ?
Gibson Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Basically Older Type Fellas... We cant afford too insure very modified vehicles or anything with a big engine... im 18 and i have too pay 1600 quid for a standard Capri 1.6Ls if i was too start modifying it now my insurance would crusify me... im putting a v8 in the capri but i dont expect too be able too insure it till im 21, and even then only if i spend every penny i have on insuring and running it and be a sad fairy who never goes out anywhere etc.... we just dont got the cash or the experience too run against the big boys and be competitive, im not saying winning is everything but if you know your gonna lose than its not that fun where as if u are lined up next too someone with similar circumstances the competition makes it fun...

tim Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 then u que up with some1 u want 2 race against not kev or ron harris, the handicap system is there to make it as equal as possible
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 I'm 10 Your not ten i am But really I am ten and hes not
perry Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 gibsons got it exactly , its how im sure a fair few people feel sure the handicap system works and works well but watching a car dissappear off infront of you and then hearing later in the day you won by 2 10ths isnt appealing just think of it like " dude i nearly had you but you just pulled that bit further at the top end , i was leaning over the wheel to put my nose in " or " ahh look , i seem to have had you by a second but im sure i was looking at your bumper " like i said the system is working but we could do with ensuring we are lined up against a similar car/driver to keep it interesting then u que up with some1 u want 2 race against i tryed that at the fast show , me and andy270 were sat together and it wouldave been a good race , but i blame the pod staff for putting me on my lonesome and the second run i was against a soddin vectra i didnt even see that car in the fire up lane

huxmk1estate Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 im 21 and have 8 fords in the family and most are old skool!!
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 I want to take the Anglia up the strip, I think it would do well. I recon a good 10 sec quarter. Erm, no, that was in my dreams last night!
Messenjah Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 tim i didnt say it was a 200mile round trip for me lol and i will join in with the osfdc when i get an osf because im not too far from the pod
Rick Posted October 10, 2006 Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 woah.... didnt think anyone would reply to my post. YOUNG GUNS thrash is an awesome idea althoug it should be 25 and under i reckon to get a good spread we have no money and less knowledge so we'd neva stand a chnace against the big boys anyway (i dont think the old chaps understand) we can have a champion in our own mini way lol or even new oldskool vs old oldskool.... dont know why im so excited my cars long from finshed... bugger. off to the shed
