Ill be very careful saying this becuase i dont want to offend anyone lol, but does anyone really appreciate this style of modifying?

Only reason i say is becuase personaly i think it looks a bit tacky and lazy :?

i mean its fair enough if you havent finshed your car yet, or its got work in progress. but i dont understand it when people aim for this look. does anyone else asside from me the rat look is a bit :shit:

I love the rat look myslef, i think it looks extremely mean.. Hard to explain but imagine Madmax style dont mess with me, pull up next to a gleaming impreza and thrash it in a matt black capri with rusty bumpers and 9 inch wide wheels oh yeah! Burstin peoples eardrums with a staight through exhaust at 7500rpm sideways,,, grrr  Sorry got a bit carried away

the " rat " look only looks good on american fords in my opinion i think and english ford wood just look silly,

but i have to say i think the american rat rods like the 32 coupes and that look mean ! :D

deffinatly my style but thats probably because im lazy and really cant be bothered polishing cars and getting all worked up about rust bubbles and scratched paint

I like it. I would own a rat-look motor  Mainly applies to the hot rods though & the VW scene I would say.

Then again..... What do most people think of Mick Rogers Cortina???? :wink:8)

i am undecided, its fun to burn people off in thier brand new hatchbacks with a car thats 21years olf, few bubbles of rust and a few paint problems, but to actually aim for it...not a fan, i do like the matt black paint though

i pefer it to be painted etc...i cant stand rust...my mate is thinking about doing rat look on his bug....but i dont see the point....they wont last too long will they once they start rusting

sometimes though its just a matter of money because once you've done ur car and spent loads on bits a nice paintjob or summin is out of reach, i know it is for me!

plus rat look is awesome :ykt::thumbsup:

mm i didnt think it had that many followers to be honest lol.

i think it looks good on the right car.....

the rat look isnt always matt black which i think some people think it is

i hate shiney cars at the moment and anyone that wants to dress the car up like a fooking hot wheels toy fine by me.... but to some people looks dnot matter and its all about speed...

i this about summs it up.... its not all about what it looks like

fooking love this film

I LOVE rat look motors, i think there the best and would fight to the death to prove it !

My motors are "Used" i prefer to call them "Used, or Driven" becouse Rat look is normally a term for yank motors.

But yes, RAT ROCKS !!!!!!!!!

begining sequence of mad max when that matt black coupe is being chased buy old mel in his police car, it looks hard as nails like it eats road.

as others have said it has to be on the right car though, but a satin black capri on slots with a bit of panel damage down the side always looks the business in my view. i used to drive one everyday and the police were always pulling me over in it cause it looked so bad. my on the road capri is a bit of a rat at the moment and it will probably stay that way cause i will spend all my money making my other one look pretty! when it is finished.

the rat look is a hit or miss thing.

some look pants. some look amazing.

personally id only use that style on a VW beetle or camper

As someone who once a daily driven rat look model A pick up i suppose i am biased but if done right there is nothing better. Some builders spend more on making a car ratty than if it was some shiny trailer queen.

Its not like rust paint in a can there are ways of doing it but when you get up close you can see its fake. A hot rod builder in bristol used to bond bits of rusty metal into 'glass doors on rods to make them look older.
