Cookie Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 And some believe it's not a nanny state we live in!
Burns Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 god dammit, i bet soon they'll bring in a law that stops me playing with myself at traffic lights
Popuptoaster Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 load of old toss, i been smoking for over 20 years so i do it without thinkin, no way it interferes with my driving any more than using the satnav, heater controls, wipers or stereo does.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 I bite my nails... Will that be outlawed soon too?
Admin Vista Posted September 28, 2007 Admin Report Posted September 28, 2007 I hate smoking, and am happy to say I approved of the ban on smoking in public places. BUT this is a a step too far!! If this is allowed then pretty soon we'll be totting up points for changing the CD, or having a conversation with a passenger.
Stu_B Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 I agree with this! Smoking is dangerous while driving as is eating, drinking, talking on the phone etc!! I getting an insurance quote a couple of years ago & they asked if I smoked, I asked if it mattered & they said no, but it was something that was being reviewed!
bortaf Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 Yeh i know a few people who this very law is intended for A mate of mine is so bad he turns OFF the cruise controll, slows down to 50 (in the outside lane) lights a fag then speeds back up again when he used to have a twist knob radio if he didn't stop to change channles he steered the car the same was a she was turning the knob had to grab the wheel a few times till he bought a vectra with the controlls on the St wheel. TBH i think some arsholes need to be banned from talking while driving Trouble is you need the laws to cover everyone including the twats who TBH shouldn't be on the road in the first place Not being funny but i know people who cant even hold a conversation without wandering all over the road, let aloan light a fag or talk on a phone (something i've spent years doing while flying a van round the west end and reading a map at the same time) 10 years with out a crash so it can be done but just not by the arseholes but then i've got galactic millage under my right foot
Daggle Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 Its funny how there has been a law to cover this for years. If you are not in proper control of a motor vehicle and yes lighting a fag can come under this as well, then you are not in proper control. Most coppers will not 'do' someone for just smoking a fag, reaching for a sweet and so on, I won't do someone for just that though it must have something else to it as well, ie: Lighting a fag whilst swerving onto the hard shoulder. Its just the same as mobile phones, there was always an offence there, for which you could get a £30 fine for, however no-one ever listened to the Police or Goverment and so a new specific law was introduced, purely banning the use of mobile phones whilst driving, so the same goes for smoking now....
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 A girl I used to work with borrowed a company car to go on a works errand. She was reaching over to tune the radio and swerved across the road and ploughed into a parked Jaguar. Yes, she was blonde.
Pipster007 Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 A bit off topic, but the age of buying ciggies will be going up from 16 to 18 as of tomoz 1-oct. This is supposed to stop kids from buying them
over_head_cam Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 Things I think they should ban (specifically) while you are driving: Blinking. Just think what might happen in the 'blink of an eye'. Sneezing. OMG you might lose concentration for a whole second! Changing gear. What a distraction Looking in the RVM. It's so confusing to see the road going backwards Glancing at the dash to check your speed. Keep your flippin eyes on the road you irresponsible fools! Any more? While we're at it why don't we make 'doing things to distract other road users' an offence punishable by taking more hard-earned? eg: Your headlights are supposed to point at the road, NOT THE BACK OF MY FOOKING HEAD YOU C**NT. GET A PROPER MOT! You are not permitted to make use of ALL the lanes on any given highway, especially at junctions where you pull across in front of me without warning. Choose the correct lane and stay in it please Brake lights are important. If another road user informs you that you have no brake lights (which is likely to cause an accident, your response should not be "So" Please forward any other of your motoring grievances to: Grumpy Old Git, c/o OSF, England. Thank you
antz Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 i followed a guy the other day with no brake lights
old skool freestyler Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 A bit off topic, but the age of buying ciggies will be going up from 16 to 18 as of tomoz 1-oct. Speedy1 Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 A bit off topic, but the age of buying ciggies will be going up from 16 to 18 as of tomoz 1-oct. This is supposed to stop kids from buying them Does the legal age to smoke go to 18 as well? Like sex, you can do it at 16 but can't buy it??? I smoke and have done since i passed my test in '89. Never affected my driving. If i had the money i'd be on my way to spain for good
Delotus Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Don't smoke. You will die. Quite true i agree . I only started smoking about 5 years ago and i smoke quite a lot. I smoke because it make me feel better and believe it or not i smoke on doctors orders,i have a serious bowel desease and the only thing that helps me is smoking, sumit in the nicotine. I had two options, have all my intestines removed or start smoking,5 years on im still here. The steriods they have been giving me before i started smoking have done my liver in and god knows what else, theres a risk in smoking i know but i'd sooner smoke than take the side effects of the treatment. Now i smoke in my car and i smoke every where I go and i hate second hand smoke Just like anyone who doesn't smoke .And i hate anyone who smokes in front of kids. But COME ON what next... Will they ban farting? .Because of CO2 emisions. Tim
