john_3.0s Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 cant stand mine, spend my days as a typist surrounded by loosers as a so called systems engineer but it does pay the bills. would love to do something else but couldnt afford to now, let alone take time out to re-train etc
Jay_harrier Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 ... would love to do something else but couldnt afford to now, let alone take time out to re-train etc nail on the head there bud, every 10 years I've had a complete change but this time I can't afford to do it either. I don't mind my job, I work with a good bunch of like minded idiots but there's no challenge these days. Lottery winning w*nker doesn't appear in the job centre window too often...

Ratters Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I don't mind my job, I work with a good bunch of like minded idiots but there's no challenge these days. that's about how i feel with my job too. i do enjoy it but it seems to get a bit 'boring' at times. welder/fabricator btw for a roller shutter/ entrance systems company though i do tend to get a lot of the one off, non standard jobs which makes things more interesting
Messenjah Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 well working as a tyre fitter at my local landrover garage when i was 15 was alright ... basically they had a massive f00k off heap of old wheel with tyres on that had been building up for years and they were told they had to get rid of them ... enter me ... now this heap is about 700 landrover wheels if not more ... and my boss said to me you see those wheels each wheel need sa tyre taken off it tyres stacked in the woods to be collected and wheels stacke dback here i can sell each wheel for around £6 and it costs me £1 to have each casing taken away how much do you want me to pay you per wheel that you "shell " me £2.50 her £1 me £1.50 done deal when i started i was earning about £5 an hour working for 4 hours and gettign £20 was well chuffed .... got to the point where you could fit quicker then a quick fit fitter and i was earning £80 for 4 hours work on a saturday morning tht was a great place to work loved it ! working as a chef for harvester in potters bar on the othe rhand... loved the waitresses , the actual job , the people HATED , the hours , the management , the other kitchen staff ... was workign 13/14 hour shifts with an hour break max with a half hour commute each way so 14-15 hour days back to back on occasion i finished at gone 1 in the morning and had to be back there for 9 the next day .. at one point i worked 18 14 hour days back to back SOD THAT and i was good at my job ! dont claim to be a talented chef but i am a GOOD grill chef the busiest hour tht i grilled for we took orders for , cooked and served 120 meals ! an average sunday would be around 90 meals an hour ! and would they give me a pay rise when i was the only competant grill chef in the kitchen bar the kitchen manager and competent would be generous way of describing him ... would they fook i was on the same wage as a guy who couldnt find his arse with both hands tied behind his back .... so i quit

mk2_escort_chick Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 My job sucks- I do all the hours possible-get no thanks, poo pay and treated like poo. Some of the people there are top and we have a laugh. Thing is- i cant really leave because no job=no money=no car=an unhappy sarah! They wont put my contraced hours up to full time which is fooking me off! ARGH!!!!! Fingers crossed, I've got something else in the pipeline
atomic punk Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Cant bloody stand it at the moment - working in an office doing financey type things. THis week I've had to deal with an 'office romance' that has led to the breakdown of 2 marraiges. Also, starting disciplinary action on two seriously lazy useless staff that I seem to have inherited. On top of that we are putting a new system in which has gone tits up - we haven't paid anyone for weeks and they are understandably getting very arsey. I will have worked about 75 hours by Friday - my contracted hours are 37.5 So in short the only reason I'm staying is to pay off the mortgage and to feed my obsession for rusty old fords
X-pack-Glyn Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Love my job out on the road.... the problem is idiot management i have to deal with.
turner Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I dont mind my job been doin it 10 years, its in a massive saw mill we get lots of one offs and work for famous folk.plus when the machines break i get to play with a masive welder !
Smudger105e Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I enjoy my job most of the time, been working for the same company since 1976 so I guess I may make a career out of it one day...
