BaileyMex Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Over the last two days I've noticed a beige MK1 Escort 4dr that has appeared on a drive of an old house... Now has this old car been dragged out of some garage coz it needs getting rid of? Or is it someones new pride and joy? QUESTION: Do I knock and ask if it's for sale or leave it?
MEXY867M Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 you should knock mate no harm in asking if no luck you might get another member to oldskoolford and join in the fun
emu Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Youll kick yourself (and rightly so) if you dont go round and then find out its been scrapped.
Duke3s Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 worth a crack. while i was out and about last month i saw a rotten capri 3 litre S on someones drive. There was someone in the garden so i asked - told me to piss off! but dont let that put you off - i reakon he was having a bad day! Dave

DarrenM Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 I never open with a "is it For Sale". I go down the route of introducing yourself as a fellow enthusiast, get chatting and their plans will come out for it. Before you go leave with a "if ever you wanted to sell I'd be interested"
mossy Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 I never open with a "is it For Sale". I go down the route of introducing yourself as a fellow enthusiast, get chatting and their plans will come out for it. Before you go leave with a "if ever you wanted to sell I'd be interested" thats proberly the best thing...least offensive, i would rather have it put that way then having a stranger on my door going 'oit mate wanna sell your motor'
Retromotorsport Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Or swap.... "would you like to swap it for a car you can use ? with tax and mot , electric windows, stereo C/L etc etc " One 4dr swapped for £150 car ... I spent months trying to get a mint 2 dr mk2 off an oldboy, he wouldn't take £500, he wouldnt take £1000, he wouldnt take £1200... but he swapped it for an Orion Ghia .... £150 quids worth of car .. his face was a picture as he showed his wife the windows going up and down .. at the touch of a button, and she was amazed that all the doors unlocked when one was unlocked .. no more waiting for him to get his old bones in the car, and reach across to let her in from the rain .. (personally after 50 years of marraige he should have done her door first) .. he was made up with that Orion, you would think it was a Rolls Royce the way he was taking his hankie and polishing it ... so smile allround .. one mint escort that was easilly worth 2k .. for £150
