steve mk2 Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 got 105 mph out of my standard 1.3 escy!!!! i recon it had more but i didnt want to push it coz i dont have a rev counter. pretty good considering its only surposed to do 93 according to the manual. and i got 0-60 in 13 seconds and its only spose to do it it 15
BIG G Posted October 25, 2006 Author Report Posted October 25, 2006 between us we have some pretty fast motors the old rice rockets will allways be quicker but there is allways something more satisfying about going flatout with side draughts and trumpets in an OSF to keep you safe
DarrenM Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 My modern daily hack reads 64 mph on the speedo when my GPS says 60 mph. The faster you go the wider the gap. The GPS read 150 mph at Brunters at the Classic Ford shootout in my Capri but the official verified speed was 151.7 mph so it's pretty accurate.
mk1super Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Theres alot of "Private roads" down your way i feel a relocation coming on I dont go fast at all i just potter around at 30mph everywhere....Honest
bortaf Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Had an indicated 140 in a 2.3 cortina (3.44 diff) but the rev counter stoped moving at 110? Hmmmm
antz Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 97 but i was gunnign at 5500rpm. couldnt take anymore. standard engien apart from weber 32/36 carb, k &n and a bogg brothers tune up.
Tom Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 me, marty and mark passed an M3 at an indicated 135mph (flat out, 6500rpm, speedo needle bouncing around) that was in that big car park that surrounds london should've seen the geezers face
steve mk2 Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 rite this is probably the stupidest question ever asked but im unsure...... if i was to go full revs down the motorway would the engine blow or not? i mean its never had any trouble its always at the first quatre on temperature never higher its just a standard 1.3 xflow with full 2ince exhaust. i really wanna see wat it can do at the max
Dom Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Depends if you're going from John O'Groats to Lands End
Fiesta Steve Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 A standard 1300 x-flow will happily sit at 6k all day long. Well mine does anyway My XR2 has been offically clocked at 92 mph in 3rd 110 mph in 4th Don't know what it does in fifth but the speedo tells me i'm doing more than double the nation speed limit But if you belive your speedo you'll belive anything
escort greg Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 i once managed to get a suzuki super carry of the clock i think i was doing about 95mph that was scary enough
Chris! Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 my dad got our standard mk1 cortina gt to 97mph It then started vibrating so had to slow down lol
mk14dr Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 95 in mine. bog standard 1.1, 4spd ect. measured with the digi dash in my brothers Yaris following me. that was downhill tho.
Jelly Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 What's the max RPM of a 1.6 Zetec? I understand that the lower the engine capacity, the better they rev, right?
bortaf Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Once did 35MPH in a 2 speed milkfloat Now that was scarey mind you it could beat a marina 1800 TC off the lights even when full
steve mk2 Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 A standard 1300 x-flow will happily sit at 6k all day long. Well mine does anyway errrrr well i gave it a go........ mine didnt blew up sparkplug, and a huge points gap. (which i didnt know about till i got home) and had to drive all the way home from boxhill on three cylinders (still at over 70mph tho ) ((when the got their lol )) poping and banging like a goodun when you boot it and if anything it slowed down lol
SAMMYBOY Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 I got a top speed of 130mph out my series one turbo, just before the dodgy fuel pump relay cut all power for a couple of seconds....The guy i was racing in the golf gti, must have though i`d slammed the brakes on
huxmk1estate Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 FLAT OUT SATURDAY MORNING ON THE WAY TO SHAKEY
kevmk2 Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 156mph on road angel at 7300rpm,so should be a good 160mph+ top speed, run out of road to try it
capriedd Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 105 in my cappa, but that was the day i bought it and had'nt drivin one before. best one was being clock in convoy with 4 other cars at 115mph in a 1.1 metro , only mods were straight through pipe and tights over the intake (yea you heard right, 'tights', worked well untill they got sucked into the engine one day tho) clutch did go soon after the convoy that was done on a private road.
105Nick Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Through the medway tunnel, foot welded to the floor, the needle trembling and engine screaming .... and we were doing 2 up ... at 75mph! Then the steering wobble got a bit much and the brakes stopping us for the roundabout I had to back off.... should be a bit better now the engine's rebuilt, but not bad for an original 43 year old 997 anglia. Did it a little while back in me bro's cobra though, a Suzuki SV1000 passed us while working through the roundabout, he must've almost been at the entrance by the time we pulled away and oh god, we were under his wheel by the the time he got halfway through, and looked seriously worried from all the noise. Saw 140 that day .... but then its being run in and wasnt pushed, acceleration's mental and had to flash some scooby jap crap to get outta the way
pelvins Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 electronic spedo hit 150mph once , before i slowed down, checked it with gps and about 5mph out . not bad for a 40 year old ford ! ( on a private road of course )
