Admin Vista Posted October 17, 2008 Admin Report Posted October 17, 2008 Tyre choices In the market for a set of four tyres and have found some good prices on the following: Yokohama S306's TOYO CF1's and Semperits Both available in H and V rated for slightly different prices Anone got any experience of any of the above to offer? Gimme a vote if you've used them

Admin Vista Posted October 17, 2008 Author Admin Report Posted October 17, 2008 i use yokohama a539s and i swear by em!!! even thinking of digging in my pockets and putting a set on the volvo tank Yokohama option is S306's, are they all much of a muchness?
MightySprocket Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I have just swapped to Yokos from conti contacts and they feel like a better tyre
mk1super Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Its funny i thought it was only bikes that were picky on tyre choice, i never expected cars to be the same shame on my ignorance, will keep an eye on this for when i decide to re boot my own escort
Messenjah Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 when ive driven cars with cf1s in the wet they havent inspired confidence and myself i swear by yokos
Fiesta Steve Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 i use yokohama a539s and i swear by em!!! even thinking of digging in my pockets and putting a set on the volvo tank Yokohama option is S306's, are they all much of a muchness? Is this the tyre thats set to replace the A539. They are certainly not much of a muchness although I have zero knowlegde of the S306. Some reviews here; http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews67033.html I have Yoko A539's on my road car and with VERY spirited driving on the road they hang on well wet or dry and last well too. If they are the replacement for the A539 as long as they are as good then they get my vote. I haven't used the other tyres you mention but after using Yoko's and being by far the best tyres I have used to date I would be very cautious about paying hundreds of pounds for tyres I may or may not like.
Admin Vista Posted October 17, 2008 Author Admin Report Posted October 17, 2008 Some reviews here; http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews67033.html Don't like the sound of this one Good Points: I only bought a pair of them so didn't waste money buying 4. Bad Points: Bad force vibration. Awful construction and tolerance (noticeable when rotating on a tyre balancer). The tread pattern is just designed to pick up every piece of grit and small stone on the road. Not even made in Japan! General comments: I would not even think about fitting another Yokohama tyre after this experience. I would say that these are the worst set of tyres I have ever bought. I have had remoulds that are better manufactured. Gave a bad vibration at speeds which could not be eliminated, even on my own calibrated tyre balancer to 1gram tolerance. My mid range Firestone Multihawks at 2/3 the price of the yokohama are far superior. They are now on the rear of the car and will get replaced at the earliest opportunity. Unfortunately it is another "show/ image" over substance.
Fiesta Steve Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 But the other reviews are good, who do you believe. Scott, where have you got your prices from, and what size are you using as I am after some new tyres myself. I would like to stick to A539's but am having trouble finging them in the size I currently have which i 175/60 13.
hotrodholty Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 sorry to hi-jack the thread but what about toyo tyres, anyone used them, i was looking at these on ebay to put on my new wheels http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2x-195-45-15-VR-T ... 286.c0.m14
