My old gearbox

Last year i went upto the pod for some practice before the final round of the OSFDC

Anyway on one of the runs, i managed to select 5th intead of 3rd , yeah i know, Dont ask

Anyway, in hope it might be fixable, KJ kindly took it apart, so we could assess the damage, This is what we found, needless to say i think its fooked

Make sure you dont lose any of those little teeth if you're hoping to stick it back together!

Its the fifth gear thats had it, I ve been told its a pig to get off

you usually damage 5th up getting it off, dnt think you gota worry bout that tho ! strange thats done that coz you changed up it must have been on its way out anyway

They are but there is a special tool for the job,we used to rebuild them at my old works. I think burton sell the 5th gears as its common they break when taking the boxes apart without the correct tool. Might be worthlooking at getting it fixed as the rest of the box is prob ok.

just change the oil, she'l be ok! i just used a 2 leg puller to get mine off, done it twice now, no problems

The rest of the box is ok, as it was only rebuilt a year or so ago,

But as i plan for more power at a later date, i would like to get something alot stronger.

if you want a stronger box ian,get in touch with bara in the midlands,did an uprated one on hippies mk1 and is excellent,smooth and copes with his power 450
