Toby Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Having spent the closed season tinkering with his Duratec Dave Colledge implanted his new engine and had it set up at Emerald yesterday. It made 304hp and 235ft/lbs Today he went to the Pod to an Alternative Energy meet as he runs on bioethanol (E85). He said the place was deserted with his car being the only car running!! He was running a standard production gearbox, worse than previous 60ft's, and snail like shifting. When he finally found 2nd gear he ran 10.6 @ 122mph and he thinks there's lots more in it!! Well done Dave - I would say I was impressed but I knew you'd do it!! We need video footage please!! Perhaps I can get on with my gearbox now!!
Posse Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Well done dave thats mental And well done to you old toby

Toby Posted April 24, 2009 Author Report Posted April 24, 2009 Thanks everyone Dave is well pleased. Dave has sent me a link to this http://www.blackettphotography.com/videos/retro1.mov No sound and a bit slow to download, but impressive slow-mo of the launch - you can see the tyres wrinkle then relax as he shifts into 2nd then wrinkle again. I haven't heard the engine yet - I believe it sounds flippin' angry! Hurry up and get a youtube link up boys!!
kevmk2 Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Simply Awesome! Glad he got it done, i read on Retards Club the other day that it wouldnt be done until the end of summer, but thats great news Maybe he can put a glass windscreen in it now and make it road legal, imagine how many cars he would piss off Time to put a Duratec in your Tina mate
Bunman Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Way to go Toby, another master stroke "Well I think that about says it all"
escort21 Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Bloody hell!...if theres more to come then are we talking high 9s?
Toby Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 Maybe he can put a glass windscreen in it now and make it road legal, imagine how many cars he would piss off Time to put a Duratec in your Tina mate When I phoned to ask him if he'd driven it yet he said he'd warmed it up to 3000 revs and it scared him! - I like the idea of it being road legal but would it get any of it down? Imagine the ferraris being beaten by the estate on it's way back from Tesco's - I think a few eggs would get broken! Duratec? Cortina? Don't you swear at me!! Good engine though
Toby Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 Way to go Toby, another master stroke "Well I think that about says it all" It has 100hp at 3,500 revs and over 130ft/lbs of torque!! That's like a crossflow on a BCF2 flat out!! Not that we'll have anything said about the old crossflow!!
Toby Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 Bloody hell!...if theres more to come then are we talking high 9s? Never say never but we're hoping for mid to low 10's soon.....ish
