Losers. Did you tell them to stop being sheep? I bet they dont know a thing about mechanicals and the workings of a car. Anyone can just get a loan and buy a fast car from the box. Twats.

Well said, any one can buy a fast modern, but you learn nothing about driving from it, by and large it will sort your mistakes out for you! If you really want to learn to drive, get a car without all the electronic aids, four wheel drive, abs, traction control etc. If osf's were fossils why do the top rally drivers jump at the chance to get back in an escort for example? Rather drive my capri than a rice rocket with 1/2 tonne of tupperware stuck to it! :)

Thats what annoys me. They think they are car enthusiasts but know nothing. If you asked them what the compression ratio is or even what a con rod looks like, they wouldnt have a clue.

All they know about is body kits and bloated HP figures.

Im always a bit funny about people that know nothing about cars and I think training and a test should be part of getting your lisence, I see it that I trust my life with that object I wanna know how it bloody works!

As for the boy racers more people will prefer your car trust me.

Couldn't agree more, just finished mirror polishing my con rods so they flow more air when on top of my carbs, just going to measure the deflection in suspension so I can work out the compression ratio, then I'm off to the rolling road to see if my 2.1 pinto makes more than the 650BHP it did last month!

So he doesn't know about modding the front bumper by cutting up two plastic storage crates from the pound shop and sticking them on with gaffer tape?, if done right its worth at least 0.5 of a second off the 0-60 :)

Should've pointed out the fact that your car turns more heads than their pieces of crap for all the right reasons, yours will continue to go up in value whereas theirs will only depreciate, your car is built to last whereas theirs will be bean cans & plastic toys by the time it's 35 years old!

If yours is tax exempt then you can also point out that you enjoy hooning around tax free for 12 months instead of having to fork out £200+ for the pleasure too

Are you serious? Fords were rusting as they came out of the factory. I remember someone buying a Mk1 Escort brand new and scrapping it after 4 years as it had almost completely dissolved. Mk3 Cortinas were reknowned for being rust buckets. It is only by pure miracle and idiots like me that are prepared to weld some new metal back to the few bits that haven't disintegrated that there are any old Fords left.
