flyingbanana Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 bedfordshire to penzance in cornwall and back is prob one of the longest journeys ive done in it.....more oil came out the back than exhaust gases....engine got changed after that run
FredTransit Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Milan and back and Paris 4 times in one year for one of our Mk2 transit lutons, ran up about 400,000 miles on one second hand 2.5 DI engine before it needed replacing (went bang on me on the M40 on the way to Birmingham) and no idea what it's true mileage was as I don't know what the mileage was in it's original van.
Trevmk3 Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 i have been known to go to scotch corner for meets and also been down to the isle of sheppey to collect wheels from Nettles at the same time as mitchvilles were having a bonfire meet/ openhouse event/ birthday, also done the trip to Craw;ey for the OSF 4th birthday meet as well as the standard trips to the pod and silverstone. i broke down on the M1 on my way to the CF show this year, overheated and had a dodgy starter motor, no hard shoulder and traffic was at walking pace so i lifted the bonnet and pushed for over a mile then bump started it near the bottom of a hill its all in a days fun
rob-loves-osf Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 400,000!! ruddy hell! thats some fookin mileage!! there's some really reliable fords in here that would put new cars to shame!!! ! Rob

Last trip on the return had a faulty temp switch for the lecy fan so the Capri marked its teritorium along the road in Belgium during heavy traffic delays. Did a few european shows also with Speyer Germany as furthest (about 600 mile)

emu Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 not as far as some, think the longest was one saturday a couple of years back. From Gosport (Portsmouth), to Shakespeare raceway in Stratford. Raced all day. Then drove down to Ashford, Kent for the Diner meet, then back to Gosport. My poor car took some punishment that day!
sab6024 Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 When I had my Capri she would do 30,000 miles a year, I remember in 2005 having to take a day off work just to get her serviced and MOT'd because she worked everyday whether she liked it or not Always took her to CF and FF from Cornwall and if I could have I would have kept her.....gonna start looking for my next one soon though
mk14dr Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 I've done 11.5k in the escort this year. Thats using it everyday, maybe ten 200+mile roadtrips around North Yorkshire, then the ace cafe and back one tuesday afternoon last Jan, Knebworth and back, and a weekend in Somerset where I took some of the camping gear out and went round the track. And done with 4cogs, no carpet and a big grin on my face (or a grimace if its just ground to a halt ) I might service it when the snow melts...
RETRO_AL Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 I went from norfolk to blackpool,to the lakes then back to blackpool and then to silverstone and back to norfolk in a weekend, i reckon i did about 600 miles that weekend in my old fully stripped out mk1 only problem i had was a traffic jam and it was roasting, only had a silder in my wider for air!
immingham Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Done Wigan to Silverstone back to Wigan to Kettering and finally back home to Wigan all in one day I was half deaf when i got back home, thanks to the ashley full system Nearly 600 miles ! and didn't miss a beat.
