pirate Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I FOUND MY OLD 1600E CORTINA TODAY, I WAS WONDERING WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO IT. I SOLD THIS CAR 30 YEARS AGO AND ALWAYS WISHED THAT I HAD KEPT IT. MY MATE GOT TALKING TO SOMEONE AND HE SAID THAT HE HAD A 1600E IN HIS FIELD AND THAT HE HAD NOT USED IT FOR TWENTY YEARS WHEN HE TOLD MY MATE WHERE HE HAD BOUGHT THE CAR, MY MATE REALISED THAT IT WAS ME THAT HE HAD BOUGHT IT OFF. SO TODAY WE WENT TO HAVE A LOOK AND I WAS HOPING THAT IT WAS SALVAGEABLE, BUT THIS IS WHAT I FOUND

.pete. Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 From reading the opening bit I was hoping or a happier end, until I scrolled down to the pictures. Is the interior light cover still there??
mexman123 Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 Where the hell is the chassis?? Must be buried in the earth?, whats left of it. My god, looks as though even the glass has rotted away..... Poor 'tina, absolutely amazed how a car can dissolve like that. My deepest sympathies....don't look like that will be coming back....
mrcheese Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I've had the same thing, i sold a 1600e to some one ten years ago and its not turned a wheel since. I went past not long ago and its lost its screen now
bortaf Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 Fook me that's one of the worst i've seen, 20 years in a field will do funny things a motor
Yeomans22 Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 thats a shame, i'm sure there might be a few useable parts on it, i know someone selling a E in that aubergine/purple colour too. Paul.
