.pete. Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 pm i received earlier, relating to a now deleted thread where AMWithers had a V5 for sale for a 1968 mk1 Escort. thank you for reporting me to the admin its a shame as there was a list of people wanting to buy it but atleast i managed to sell it before it was deleated and the list of people who wanted to buy have got your name sent to them for the reason it was deleated wot we are all conserned about most of all is your dodgy cortina. tell me is it a delux or a 1600e ? would we ever know ? mabey you brought a dodgy 1600 delux logbook for your 1600e shell, and im sure this site dont wish to see cars tht are not right, so before you shout your gob off look at your own peice of shit. For a start, i never reported you or the thead to anyone, it's a moderated forum, so one of the moderators or admin must have seen the thread and deleted it themselves. Any my piece of shit Cortina is a 1600 Delux, as said in the thread, which one of the previous owners had added 1600E bits to, but the V5 still says 1600 Delux, because changing that would be illegal. Anyway, glad you got the V5 sold.
bigdaz27 Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 If I had a 1974 escort I would buy a log book so I could have free tax just and have the money in my pocket in stead of the goverment
Stiggy Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Yes but........ Just buying a log book and ringing a car is illegal, it's all about the percentage of the vehicle parts used, then again with full receipts for all the parts it may be Q regged or whatever it is now.
FredTransit Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 This has gone on since there were log books, I am sure. The difference with this is the internet is not a couple of blokes meeting face to face in the pub. You don't know who you are selling to (or buying from) this way. Could be a car thief, could be a bod from the DVLA. You just don't know...... One thing for sure, if I was to get up to anything like this, I can tell you I wouldn't put it on the public internet.

Admin Vista Posted August 25, 2010 Admin Report Posted August 25, 2010 For the record AMWithers it was me that removed your thread (as you well know because I politely explained both my and the forums reasons for doing so to you). Nobody reported the thread to me ergo .Pete doesn't deserve your criticism. When I have time I browse all the rooms by day and "sale of V5C" is a red rag to any member of the admin team. Also, you might want to consider not sending offensive PM's to other site members. Such actions have earned other members enforced holidays in the past, initially temporary and then made permanent on repeat action.
Jiffer Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 I don't understand why someone can call a fellow members OSF a piece of shit? He's doing his car the best he can, and bloody good luck to you Pete m8:thumbsup: It wouldnt go down very well with me if some sent me a PM and slaged my car off in it.
MEXY867M Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Come on peeps lets call it a day on this topic,we all say things we shouldnt in the heat of the moment
garyv6100e Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 I think AMWithers owes .pete. an apology for he's rude and insulting comments
bortaf Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 I think AMWithers owes .pete. an apology for he's rude and insulting comments dam right he does
.pete. Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 i'm not after an apology and i'm not really bothered what he sells and who buys it, I just didn't want this site to be associated with selling log books, which is only ever used for fraud or to cover up stolen cars.
petrolhead Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 We need some kind of OSF Thunderdome to sort these things out. You know..... "TWO MEN ENTER, ONE MAN LEAVE!" Pete, you can have first choice of the weapons.

morcheen Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 books still being sold on e-bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 3D1&_rdc=1 a lot of import shells come with no i.d so there is a legalish reason to buy them but wether dvla are fully informed is another thing. as said it's been going on since day one and a lot of cars now seen as some of the best in the country are not in their original or even 'rs' spec shells, not just the ford scene.people who remember the pre-internet times know a lot about these cars, but the newer osf crowd don't.so be very cautious when buying even if you think the car is spot on it could be a ringer as they used to be called. this add had a lot more time up before it was pulled, not like a lot of the previous, but it only needs to be up for minutes to grab a buyer, who wouldn't want to save giving about £200 a year to the dvla. no need for the funny pm though
Admin Mk2Jo Posted August 26, 2010 Admin Report Posted August 26, 2010 As an enthusiast site it would not be responsible of us to allow the sale of logbooks with our knowledge via this forum and therefore, as Vista has said, we remove the sale of such items when we see them. It doesn't matter whether there are 20 people or 100 people out there willing to buy one .... we will not allow them to be sold on here ... simples! It is a well known fact that cars are stolen and new identities given to them courtesy of second hand V5's. If my beloved Ford was one that was stolen and then sold on and given a new identity using a V5 bought on the www I would be devastated as are all the victims of this cruel scam. And .pete. I like your shit deluxe 'E' Cortina

I like your shit deluxe 'E' Cortina Jo is absolutly right, selling V5s don't bother me i may have done it in the past or i may not but the point it the site has to be protected AND at the end of the day using the V5 on another shell is illeagal and such actuivity should be kept on the QT not blabbed about on a public forum but i guess some people dont get subtle Oh and instead of pugle sticks we shoude use padded torque wrenches
andy a Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Oh and instead of pugle sticks we shoude use padded torque wrenches No need for the padding, if you use crap on ones and they get damaged they swap it for a shiny new one
