AlanN Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 What do you classify as "Old Skool" when I was running a Club in the late 80's early 90's, Cortina MKII's where called 'Modern Classics' 20 years +. So nowdays, what whats an OSF, is there a cut off date? I think my MK3 Transit van is 'Old' its 21 this year but because it looks like a MK5, people don't think its that old, just ugly and out of date...
Kieran Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 i think its only mk1 and mk2 transits that are classed as old skool
banarama Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 i think its only mk1 and mk2 transits that are classed as old skool i agree with that
killerkerry89 Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 rule of thumb- if you can remove the bumpers and it still looks like a car then its oldskool.
Admin Vista Posted October 1, 2010 Admin Report Posted October 1, 2010 The cut off date for Old Skool (in the eyes of OSF only) is 1980. Not that your specific car is registered or built before 1980 but that the model itself is in production before 1980. Hence why a 1986 Mk3 capri qualifies but a mk2 Fiesta from 1984 doesn't.

kevmk2 Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 I have a customer who comes in my work with a Y reg XR3, the last carbed version off the production line, its in good condition in black. He also has the XR3 from the Ford heritage museum, the old one. Bit of a rare car nowadays.

Sorry no, my statement reads "in production before 1980" not simply a cut off date of 1980. Re the XR2 the mk1 xr2 may not have been introduced till 81 but the mk1 Fiesta as a whole was introduced in 76 so all models in the range count.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 2, 2010 Admin Report Posted October 2, 2010 Old Skool on this forum is not necessarily what is recognised as old skool on other forums Alan
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 If they have plastic bumpers and are front wheel drive then deffo not Old Skool

AlanN Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 Old Skool on this forum is not necessarily what is recognised as old skool on other forums Alan Very true, a MK3 Transit isn't considered old yet on the Transit forum, just an Ole banger MK3's are getting quite rare now and the MK4 even more so, but the MK5 (Smilie) is common as muck even though its the best looking of the 3. The end of the eighties was the end of an era at Ford for me, starting with the Prope and they thought it would replace the Mustang in 89 So what would you call the period between 1980 and 1990 "Middle Skool Ford"
bortaf Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 well i spose it's been a good 9 months since somone asked this question, it's usuall a monthly thing
AlanN Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 [/img]thats old skool MK2 face-lift, one of my favourites, but without the hoist If I had the money for someting concourse, MK1 petrol SWB panel with sliding doors. But Id still like to customise a MK1 bread van, like this one... V6, wheels, plain metalic paint... Please dont ask why, coz I dont know
