EscortHeadCase Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 Nearly fell off my chair the other day when I got my renewal quote through from Adrian Flux end of last week. Last year £800 this year £1105. Rang them just to make sure that was correct and it apparently is. I'm 23 been driving for 5 years 4 years NCB on my daily. Would be my 3rd year of insuring the Escort so should have 2 years NCB on it. Granted I was expecting a bit of a rise due to more mods and the general climate but a rise of 35% or so is a bit much. Anyone know any good Insurers or another option as it might end up as a year of having her laid up. I'm moving in with my girlfriend at the end of the month so money is gonna be tight as it is.... Thanks all
Admin Vista Posted January 10, 2011 Admin Report Posted January 10, 2011 Have you tried the site sponsors? Adrian Flux clearly you have already but they do offer some discount to OSF members http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... p?t=122051 Or Give the Russian Bear a shout at Cherished Vehicle insurance, he's been able to do something for most of us. It must be a second vehicle though http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... p?t=106266

Maybe its time I pay mah 12 quid then. Bout time too
GJUK Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 I found Cherished quite poor. Expensive quotes and wouldnt touch me after having two accidents in the last 5 years. Else where, £128 thank you very much. confused.com for the win.
Yeomans22 Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 this year my escort is staying sorn, so ill spend the money i would have spent on tax, insurance petrol mot on a few much needed mods and just buy laid up insurance.

At the moment I am considering this and then do some track days maybe.
FredTransit Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 On the subject of insurance, remember the new DVLA rule. If it's taxed, it must be insured. If it's on a SORN it doesn't have to be. If it's on a SORN, make sure you cover the number plates if you trailer it to a show or track day, as the ANPR cameras can pick them up and you will get a nasty fine and have to do some arguing.

If so, that is very good 1500 miles agreed value of £3000 Fully comp social and comestic use only I was quite shocked at the cheapness of the price as well. I've had two fault accidents in the last 5 years as well, this is the only car i am insuring myself as well. (got a company car though) J

Posse Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 Yeah herd about this prices going up there all cashing in on the 2%VAT Increase from what I herd fook knows why tho. I suppose its a knock on effect when cars get smashed or damaged the prices of parts have gone up.
Jayney Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 I was quoted £120 from Footman James for £3500 agreed value on a Mk3 Cortina, unlimited miles and business use. Careful lady driver you see But they say if I fit a roll cage they'll cancel the policy
