they say he was trying to break the uk land speed record which currently sits at 300.3mph set in the vampire jet car that he crashed, some also say he had already broken the record but nothing official yet. hope the little guy pulls through ok top gear wont be the same without him.

A hospital spokesman said: "He has seen some improvement overnight, but remains in a serious but stable condition."

 

The dragster car he was driving was believed to have been travelling at about 300mph when it crashed.

 

Motoring expert Adam Rayner, of Fast Car magazine, said that at those speeds the driver would experience forces similar to those endured by fighter pilots.

 

"These cars accelerate at 6G - the force is breathtaking and stopping is a real difficulty," he said.

I love that guy, top gear wouldnt be the same without him, hes an absolute legend, I wish him all the best, latest news was he's in critical but stable condition. All our thoughts should be with him and his family, when he gets better we should send him an oldskool card or something

The latest news says he's got a significant brain injury but doctors are confident he'll make a good recovery.

 

So, brain injury. They don't say 'brain damage' so I wonder if it's something like it's swollen, or been bleeding heavily but not damaged the tissue. (Just being hopeful)

 

Fingers crossed he'll pull though.

 

EDIT: Just dug up the Rik Mayall news story when he had his quad accident, and they're saying a similar thing.
