Cookie Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 I do not condone damage to anyone elses property, but technically speaking these cameras belong to the public anyway and i do believe we are that public Also if the government are allowed to steal from us on an hourly basis i think a bit of vandalism is fair sport Funkin twankers

Jelly Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 NOT EVEN IN ACCIDENT AREAS, THEY ARE MOSTLY IN MAKING MONEY AREAS. There needs to be three seperate accidents at a location before a Gatso can be deployed.
Cookie Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 NOT EVEN IN ACCIDENT AREAS, THEY ARE MOSTLY IN MAKING MONEY AREAS. There needs to be three seperate accidents at a location before a Gatso can be deployed. Not anymore!!!! they recently changed it all aparently so they can basically stick em where ever they like, whick means in plain terms wherever the most money will be made, thieving fooks
Jelly Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Sorry mate, just checked and you're totally correct. According to the horse's mouth, they can only be used in places: * with a history of serious accidents, and * where there is evidence of a speeding problem, or * where there is local community concern There is also this rather hysterical clause with regards to signposting camera areas: However, even if safety cameras do not conform to these NSCP visibility rules you will not be able to use this as a defence if you are caught speeding.

Look at this news report for what's going on near me, bear in mind that the speed limit in the tunnel was 40 until tunnel engineering works (which included camera installation) were done a couple of years ago, there was no appreciable speeding problem in the tunnel prior to them lowering the limit to 30. This I agree was necessary for the duration of the works but they refused to put it back to 40 on completion. Another statistic to consider is that in it's 25+ year life there has never been an accident in the tunnel, much less a fatal one. Even today with one or two exceptions most of the "speeders" that would get picked up by these cameras are travelling within the original 40 limit. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cornwall/6331993.stm http://www.abd.org.uk/local/cornwall.htm And they want us to believe it's not about money? Well surprise surprise, the "safety" camera partnership has a different view on it! http://www.devon-cornwall.police.uk/dcs ... 090303.htm Are these people so naive they believe we're going to be fooled by the term "Safety camera" partnership? I believe firmly in calling a spade a spade and would probably have a little more respect for them (i.e. a fraction more than none) if they parked up at the side of the road with Cash Camera Van on the side.
john_3.0s Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 afraid i lost all respect for them when i got done on a bypass in cardiff at 0412hrs doing 46 in a 40 limit when there was absolutley nobody else about. Any reasonable copper would have given me a smack on the wrist but not a gatso. Money makers, pure and simple.
