Adi64gt Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Havent been on here for ages, really need to get my Mk1 cortina Gt finished and back on the road but its got to the point where there are probably only 10 or so minor-ish jobs to finish but I just cant get back into it. Been side tracked but other projects, but im not really champing at the bit either. Keep thinking shall i just sell, but know i wont do that either!!!!
Admin Vista Posted September 22, 2013 Admin Report Posted September 22, 2013 Don't sell, finish it. We all get times like that in projects but they're always worth it in the end
Adi64gt Posted September 22, 2013 Author Report Posted September 22, 2013 Cheers Vista, just gotta knuckle down this winter i reckon, and stop buying other vehicles and getting distracted!!!!
damian1969josh Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 just do it one day at a time ..unlike me lol
The Transplanter Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Cheers Vista, just gotta knuckle down this winter i reckon, and stop buying other vehicles and getting distracted!!!! That's my problem, I have 8 vehicles and need to sell some so I can find time to give my Escort some love!
Danr1982 Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 You would only regret selling it, give yourself a target date to have it done by, or a show date to have it ready for! Get some pictures up on here and get some positive feedback to get yourself more upbeat about it, what jobs need to be done??
Mick Scriven Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 If you do decide to sell and its an airflow 2 door, I would be interested and would sell my mk1 mex to get it! I think you would regret it soon enough though mate.
jas Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Im still removing old underseal from my car got to say i hate it but u have to keep going so get it done and enjoy it.
rossosul Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 Would agree with the majority. 2 door mate - sell!!!
Adi64gt Posted September 26, 2013 Author Report Posted September 26, 2013 Have to disappoint you all, it's a 4 door but it is a rare '64 3 dial dash job, and nah don't think I'll ever sell it. Not a whole lot to finish, handbrake cable, rear brake pipes, sort out a couple of hoses, sort a leaking water pump gasket, few odds and ends and then fire it up. Need to take some up to date pics
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted September 27, 2013 Moderator Report Posted September 27, 2013 I think if you isolate yourself and dont build friendships within the OSF community then alot of projects would never see completion. Friendship and a connection with like minded people keeps the home fires burning. I was part of a group of mates that all had Escorts and as each one got married and sold off their cars for baby carriers the enthusiasm began to wain till I was the last and got so disinterested that I almost scrapped my Mk2. Its saving grace was the total lack of style or individuality that the modern FWD plastics had so my sheer stubbornness not to confirm held me too the faith. In every club I have tried to belong to (Cars or anything else for that matter) there is always a constant stream of bitch politics. That really gets you down when it should be a good source of support so if anything that isnt the place for the like minded bonding friendships you need to keep things going. The strength and enthusiasm to keep going for alot comes from little forums like these. The scarcer OSF get with time the WWW is able to reach out to very nook and cranny round the world to bring people together. It may just allow a simple bitch session and get that off your chest when there is no one else to scream at. It may be the answer to that little question thats been holding up the next phase of your project. Being on the net its easier to ask the most stupid of questions where the answer is staring you in the face but your just so frustrated that you simply cant see it. A simple compliment often seen here "thats looking good mate" or "your doing a great job" that tiny bit of acknowledgement is all you need to get those overalls on again the next day. I have done more work in the past couple of months I have been on this forum than I had in the past two years just inspired by reading about others experiences and seeing their progress. The moral is , dont isolate yourself, come here and rant and swear and the people will always support you not to give up. The forum does need a X rated section though so we can start a thread so I can hear what others swear at their OSF when everything just keeps going wrong! 2
Admin Vista Posted September 27, 2013 Admin Report Posted September 27, 2013 Wise words, we do already have an X rated room though, you just need to ask for the password.

Thats good to know I get a bit confused with the menu system here sometimes I will take another look. Thanks! Edit - The Adult Room! Well there you go staring me straight in the face, you never find things till you ask!
chelsea kev Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 I'm really enjoying the osf community ,I'm not computer literate so don't get on very often but do watch out for meets i can attend ,This is second time round for me having owned many a old skool when they were new lol I have met a many good people all like minded over the years, I have 2 escorts both were in need of work but i'm lucky enough to have met plenty of people who have always been more than willing to help. 1
Savvi Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 It's good to find local meets or local like minded people, im getting bored of my estate at present used to have a few local mates that were into them but they have moved on now, could really do with someone to come round and drink tea while watching me or getting their hands dirty and helping, it's been sitting in the workshop all summer with little work needed to be used again !!! All the above is wise words and things ive said and done in the past, just not interested at present for some reason so feel your pain !!!
Adi64gt Posted September 28, 2013 Author Report Posted September 28, 2013 Well have pulled my finger out and got a few jobs sorted today, found a couple of extras (leaking water pump gasket, bugger!!) but nice to be working on it again. 2
chelsea kev Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 I attend a workshop most saturday's where all are involved in fords of one model or another, we have between us 2 mk1's 3 mk2's 3 door cossie 270 bhp focus and less than 1/4 mile away we have 2 workshops with at least 10 escorts being built plus the featured mk3 van in this months classic ford, and every body is only a phone call away and always willing to help each other so motivation is very high 1
buzzard Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 me and my mate scott are in the same boat . working to hard at work with no energy to work on the cars . don't want to sell but not moving any further with are projects . age isn't helping either . mid 40s . still hoping to get 2 of my cars on the road next year and scott has a mk2 Cortina that he wants on the road to . the last 2 years ive not got round to doing what I want to do . longer hours at work , kids growing up ,wife fed of me being in the garage and don't mention the bank manager LOL . it all adds up . im sure I will perk up as I want to enter the osf drag challenge . good luck and hoping for a productive year .
Streetfighter Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 I had considered doing the unthinkable and selling the Cortina after the CA18DET suffered a near impossible to find, intermittant fault that turned out to be fuel feed/pressure regulated.. But I threw money, time and patience at it and it's been fine for a few weeks now and i'm loving having it back. A daily driver isn't worth having unless it's a Old School Ford.

shaun1.6ghia Posted October 8, 2013 Report Posted October 8, 2013 I have had a slow summer where I should have had my project done but welder problems an family commitments slowed everything down, now getting some enthusiasm back together to have it done over the winter an get the escort off the road for some TLC. Oh an I just couldn't keep away from shows lol they help get you motivated. Get in the projects room an check what other people have been motoring through (some real big work on their osf) an that really helps
