Its a shame its just had the body mounted up high, I expect its pretty top heavy and limited off road in comparison to a Range Rover, would be much better if the body were mounted on the chassis and given a suspension lift. Having said that, a capri shell wouldnt put up with much, our landy's survived all we could throw at it and thieves getting it stuck in a bomb crater, sliding down hills into trees, pulling tree stumps out and some heavy work, plus off roading you're in and out all the time so its good to be able to unbolt the doors and roof, so I'd stick with what I got.

That's what I was hoping and I would certainly been up for bidding on that rare beasty For those that don't know, there was such a thing as afour wheel drive mk1 capri developed by ford with a Ferguson 4 wheel drive system. I'm trying to find details of it on the net now.

rscapriman Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 Hi Scot, had this discussion a while ago I beleive 17 prototypes were made but not all actually used in competition or road registered many if not all of the pre-facelift cars would have started out as 4cyl models as one of the auto (if not the only auto) started out as a fern green 1600GT registered CVX 720G this car was built or ordered 18th Feb 1969 ( first 3litre Capri arrived Sep 1969) and was driven by Barry Lee at some events. The CCI chairman owns one,there were at least 5 cars used for competition these would all have been pre-facelift and I know of 3 facelift models all appear to be based on 3000 GXL models. I have also seen a Mk2 Ferguson 4WD that was based on a 3.0 Ghia and been told of a second, nevertheless still very rare cars. regards Len.
