All started with not been happy with the clutch, so I thought pull the box splash out and get a twin paddle helix kit. While I was at it put a skeleton ultra light flywheel on. So hey ho £1200 later. While the box was out might aswell have a look because it was very noisy Straight cuts normally are but this is noisy so hello Mr Quaife send me an overhaul kit couple of late nights found lay gear was too long by 1.25 mm hey presto found out why it's noisy lay gear under stress when fitted. Shims turned down lay gear fitted perfect! Optimist of a quieter box. So back together she goes Bleed the clutch Drop off the stands. Fire it up. Gearbox still bloody noisy New release bearing noisy. Press clutch set off judders like twat. So all in all £1400 lighter and worse than when I started! So sat down in my Shackleton chair looked at the old anglia and thought don't like you any more So if it gives me any more problems there will be a lot of top notch parts for sale. Having a cup of tea and a fag putting prices on the parts I wish at times like this I could drink at least you get pissed and forget all about it. Closing the garage door off to kick the dog and sulk see you all at silverstone with a complete car or one in bits for sale!

Hey, what did the dog do? Kicking the cat on the other hand.......

Commiserations mate, been having some issues with mine since Classic Ford Show too.

Don't think the neighbour would be too pleased about kicking his cat! Though I'd love to it always craps in my garden!!!

Sometimes I feel the same these cars just fight you at every corner and drive you insane I could go on for ever with all the issues ive had, but when you get that one day a year where every thing is just right and it fly's down the road as it should it just sucks you back in.

I've been pushed to th limit with mine but now it's getting to the point where most of the problems are ironed out and anything that you can do to make it more enjoyable to drive is the way forward even if it makes it slower

Same (re neighbours cat) I have threatened to deport it several times!

Ive been at war with my neighbours cats for the past couple of years. It started when I painted the car using a softer acrylic paint as it was my first attempt and its easier to get a reasonable finish with the end result. However it does chip very easily for the first year. A few days after sanding it back and buffing it to a great finish I found a whole series of lines down the front guard. The cat on route home to next door using my car as a platform to get over the fence had scrambled up the side of the car and must have found it more slippery than usual and proceeded to scratch its way to gain a foothold. As such I was forced to paint the guard all over again. Hearing my vocal response the neighbour said later that she would have paid for the damage but knowing I liked to do it myself she didnt see the point!

After this with the paint looking better than it had in a while I put some new rear taillight lenses on the same Mk2 Escort and every morning I was finding the right rear had a line of liquid running down it that I simply dismissed as condensation dripping from the carport roof. After a while I noticed that the lens (being one of those cheap Chinese ones that are more painted than tinted) was going white with the red and orange parts beginning to bleach out. So I make a closer inspection of the condensation and the smell was unmistakable a cat was pissing in the same spot over and over. It was using the rear spoiler to sit on as a flat platform to pee from. So I had to get better made rear lenses that wouldnt bleach as easily.

After all this one morning I heard cats fighting under my carport and came out to see them going at it on the rear of my Mk2 and chased them off with a watery hose down. Upon inspection I found the replica fibreglass spoiler on the back has been cracked in the fight. At the time I fitted the fibreglass one there werent any rubber replicas that I knew of. Later I was fortunate to discover the guy here in Australia that makes replica rubbers ones only a mile from my home. So I had to wait a bit till he made his next batch and fitted it looking like new. Not two days after fitment the pissing cat came and left one of his little puddles on it. Now you would think rubber would be impervious to liquids but the cat pee left a mark that wouldnt wash off. As you could imagine I was furious.

Then if some may remember I was doing up the rear brakes on my Twincam. It still has its original period drums from 1970. I had them skimmed ever so slightly so as to keep the thing as original as I could. One of the springs however was basically corroded closed and ordered some from the UK and left the newly machined drums underneath the car which was also under the carport so no rain or anything would get on them however one day I noticed that they were full of moisture, yep you guessed it they can had used the drums as its personal toilet bowl. (lesson never leave drums upturned)

Seeking advice from a local Vet as to the fascination with peeing on my cars and if he had a deterrent he determined that the cars being parked along the neighbours fenceline and there was a rival cat challenging them on my cars on the same fenceline that the peeing was a territorial thing and it was so ingrained in the cats head there wasnt much I could do about it. So I spoke to my neighbour about it (a little old lady) said she couldnt believe her cat would do something like that and wasnt prepared to keep it locked up. So I declared war effectively and put up netting along the entire side of the carport just off the neighbours fence. I furthermore purchased a motion activated wildlife camera that would film the thing if it tried to break the perimeter. The first film footage below shows it being deterred by the netting from the fence. The camera is sitting on the roof of my Twincam and then you see the footage in the second video! Outsmarted by a pissing cat! Im currently trying a new thing called an anti cat walker which are these plastic squares that clip together and they have a spikey like surface that the cats hate to walk on. I havent had a incursion since but its still early days. But the whole exercise has cost hundreds in parts and spoilers and paint. The cats name is Chopper and I feel its name should be its fate! My families response oh dont be mean to the sweet little kitty cat. Grrrrrrrrrr.

Apologies for venting in someone elses thread.  I have been wanting to scream about it for ages LOL

PS. Sorry I just tried uploading the two AVi files from the camera but an error came up that I cat upload that type of file.  As such to add the second video shows the cat within inches of the camera on the Twincams roof trying to pee on it!

Just shoot the bloody thing, aren't all animals fair game for the BBQ in Australia?

I have no truck with people wanting cats as pets but when they're urinating and defecating in the garden my kids play in they get as violent a treatment as I can dish out. There's one in particular that if I could catch, I'd put it in a box and drop it off a hundred or so miles away.

Grrrr stinking animals!

Totally agree with vista! Why waste a cartridge when a free plastic bag and brick will do. Then you can do a mythbuster challenge to see if said three things cat/bag/brick will displace enough water to float. In my tests prove conclusive THEY DONT problem solved. Sorry to any cat lovers.

Sorry to any cat lovers.

I'm not! This is what Ocular Toxoplasmosis from cat faeces can do to your eyeball. I was infected, the eye infirmary thinks, as a child in a garden somewhere as some of the scars I have are very old. It last flared up in 1996/1997 and I spent a long time on steroid drugs trying to control it. I won't have my kids exposed to that same risk just so Tiddles next door doesn't have to stay indoors and shit in a tray.
