Now, I don't profess to be a reader of the Oxford dictionary but it does grip my shit when people can't be arsed to spell the most basic of words correctly, or use text speak...

Also, people appear to have lost the ability to speak to someone sitting nearby...no, send an email or text instead... How about getting up off your fat lazy ass and walking, yes walking 10 feet to speak to someone...

Sorry, I'll get back in my box...

I'm the same. I only had a normal primary/secondary school education but I like to think I can spell and write to an acceptable level. I'm a bit of a social media whore and just can not believe the amount of people who like you say, can not even spell the most basic of words. Even if you are a bad speller, there's spell check and predictive text to help. I think you actually have to go out of your way to spell incorrectly nowadays!

Well I speak proper England as I was teached as a children!

And if you can't spell use a spull chucker!

Yeah I know as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike!

It used to bother me when I first started using forums but there are more important things to worry about in the grand scheme of things...............................How does the man who drives a snowplough get to work in the morning?

Not everybody is equal education wise and bad spelling / grammar does not a bad person make. In fact some of the most pompous arrogant toss pots I've met in my line of work are also spelling Nazis who publicly point out and correct spelling, syntax and grammar when reading reports.

As Scott says, it used to bother me but now that it's more widespread than ever, I've learnt that it really doesn't matter. It also helps that I have met in person some that struggle with spelling and they were no less a man than I. I stopped judging people on their education level years ago. Now I just wish I could help them.

This forum is quite bad for 'grammer' and 'speiling'. More so than others I frequent anywayz.

The information is here though, many many people on here that know a lot more about cars than I ever will, great place for information and very helpful; what more could you want?

Can't argue with that

Some of the most intelligent people I have ever met couldn't spell or write for toffee(my very rich brother in law being one)so there is no direct correlation between intelligence and spelling or grammar.I never know if I should  type the written word correctly, or go all 'street talk' cos I'm an Essex boy who don't talk posh in real life (innit) lol. I don't feel put out by bad spelling on forums but it drives me mad at work when my bosses who earn a lot more than I do put out memo's with shocking grammar and spelling.

I used to think like that but I managed to buy my Lotus Carlton at what I consider a bargain price because it was spelt incorrectly and listed in the wrong category on EBay.

So, sometimes it is worth looking out for it

being over 50% deaf, i have become a social retard, and rely on texts and e-mails for most of what i do, and yes, when the kids text in a foreign language called text, it really bugs the hell out of me, especially when the youngest has just passed her A levels and one of them being English, i know she cant spell, but the wife just texts total gibberish and im forrever sending her question marks, then she has the front to ignore them, and thinks using a dry wipe board while im driving will help me to understand the crap shes written, regardless of that meaning i have to look at that rather than the road (we had a row in spain over that one) but what really gets on my wick, is the likes of sellers on e-bay, who refuse to text or e-mail about their item, and will only talk on the phone, and have no understanding for the deaf who rely on those formats, or when i do have my hearing aids in, the twits behind counters (mc donalds in particular) that think shouting helps, when it doesnt because i then cant lip read (hearing ids dont help me, they just give me ear infections), and yes i do speak the sarfend lingo, very broadly, but i dont think my spelling is that bad lol

nearly as bad as horses and cyclists on the road

Bad spellig I can live with, what has me switching off a is lack of punctuation, one huge sentence with no breaks, pauses or paragraphs can be difficult to make sense of. Even if you write as you speak you have to take a breath, (unless you're my wife).
