As a result of the big meet up on Southend sea front recently, the council have been given powers to disperse any group of three or more vehicles acording to the report on the t.v this morning.Another blow for the motoring enthusiast, and another nail in Southends rotton coffin.

And another reason why people need to take requests to behave at car meets seriously.

Leaving in a cloud of blue smoke may make for entertaining YouTube footage for prepubescent teenagers but it's a sure fire way of alienating residents, who complain to police and council who then have all the evidence they need conveniently uploaded to forums, YouTube and Retards Club.

Is it people from this forum doing burnouts?

I'd like to know why they do it when it is obviously clear that it will put an end to the meet (if the council do enforce their ruling).

Do they think anyone is impressed?

Do they think others at the meet will think they're cool?

Are they purposely trying to get everyone banned?

There's a time and a place, and if they have any respect whatsoever they'll knock the burnouts on the head before it gets ruined for everyone else..

TBH I don't get it either!

the same thing is happening at the ace cafe, they have been warned they will be closed down if unsociable activity with vehicles continues, i used to go to loads of cruises when i was young, but one by one they were outlawed because mainly boy racers were turning up and doing stupid things. now just as car meets are getting popular again the same thing is happening.

how stupid can people be?

Problem is Joe Public/Plod don't see the difference between a lowered Mk2 Cortina/Escort/Capri with a loud exhaust on Minilights and a boy racer Corsa: they both gather in carparks.

And do burnouts.......as far as they're concerned we ARE the same because of this....and some of us are making them right unfortunately

John's meet at the Jolly Farmer has issues with this going on, including from members on here. I don't know if he still gets grief from the local police about it but certainly I used to despite being some 250 miles away. It's a shame but is the main reason I don't want the site's name associated with events where this sort of thing goes on.

The Ace Cafe springs to mind, I dont think I ever went to an OSF meet at the Ace without something happening which normally ended up in damaged motors!

Those meets, for the most part, had nothing to do with us. We disassociated ourself with the Ace Cafe a long time ago as none of the then admin staff on here had the time to attend and organise events there. The cafe itself continued to promote the event as an OSF meet.

two things I see here

first im 46 and young enough to have done and still would the odd time lay some rubber down

secondly  why is everyone getting all high and almighty about this..first one never to do it at all ever can complain

I think we are all guilty..

( me I like to see a rwd car under control slip a nice broadside be it a twink Toyota or mk2 escort etc)

now solution maybe are mini removable road bumps a council can provide or as with the

iec mourne run maybe pc plod  should ask for all attendance vehicle details as in with parades commission application

because that is what it takes in N.I. for a run or meet...

it pisses me off to hear the "oh I never done that brigade "act all high almighty

but having said that IF a venue asks attendees NOT to leave in such manner then they SHOULD abide by that choice as they are

helping promote you past time

kenny

ps :yes I know that response will piss a few off but maybe a free speech isn't a bad thing in this pc world now :)

A valid point but there's a whole world of difference between the finger I put up to the authorities with the occasional wheel spin as I set off, and the doughnuts and line lock induced burn outs that are happening at some of these events. If the organisers don't want it and ask attendees not to do it, then some of those attendees do it anyway, then clearly the offenders don't really care about the long term future of the event. Only how "good" they can look for the camera toting spectators.

My Anglia produces 26bhp at the wheels ......burn outs are just a dream ....if I leave a show in a cloud of smoke means I've got some engine repairs to do lol lol

Been to the Ace cafe a few times when the meet was on...great meet, shame about the activities on the road out side. i can understand local residence protesting about these activities.

I agree whole heartedly vista

if orginiser or venue host requests no messing well it should apply

thankfully in Ireland the ford men are more into runs like the Lakeland run over there and

during the course there are enough places to slip the tail etc

leaving shows they don't do the line lock or doughnuts but maybe a few will

drift down the road.usually we have mashals standing everywhere stopping traffic or kinda blocking the shitheads from doing such crap.

Some of the shows I have attended on arrival you are told the rules don't like them then f---k off. If you break the rules you will be banned and from any other show that they know the organisers of! If the individual is a member of a club depending the severity of the rule break the club is banned. We are supposed to be mature car owners, well maybe just in age in some cases. But if there are rules to keep things going respect them or pay the consequences.
