FiestaMatt Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 As some of you know, I'm wanting a MK1 Fiesta for my first car after Xmas. As anything I'll have a budget ( not sure what yet lol) Just wondering, what would be the first mods you would do to it? Reliability? Grip? Big cam etc... Just something to do in the evenings. Matt
Admin Vista Posted October 20, 2015 Admin Report Posted October 20, 2015 1st car? I would just drive it or perhaps a few minor cosmetics such as a nice set of wheels. Plenty of time for mods later on and insurers don't look favourably on young drivers as it is, let alone in modified cars
accord83 Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 As Vista said, I'd keep it stock until my insurance came down, but with black steels and dog dish hubcaps.
FiestaMatt Posted October 20, 2015 Author Report Posted October 20, 2015 Yeah i'm going to keep it pretty stock, maybe some lowering springs, stiffer shocks and some nice alley cat wheels. Then leave it for a year or two until I drop a 16v in there
SmokeEm Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Nice set of wheels and make the inside a nice place to be. Nice steering wheel etc. Maybe fit central locking etc?
colr6 Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Don't make it to attractive as security on those is not up to much!
PeteRS8084 Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Not up to much where you are col, as mentioned in the inspectorate of police forces today.........Hull, special measures or simular. Oh dear, keep em peeled! Mind I don't think Thames Valley came out to well!
PeteRS8084 Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 As for the fiesta try to make any cosmetic changes tasteful, and try not to do anything to bump your insurance, best to call them. As some insurers will bail on claims if they find out something has been done and they have not been informed. Good luck with it!
colr6 Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Don't tar everyone with the same brush, will check your locking wheel nuts next time 1
FiestaMatt Posted October 20, 2015 Author Report Posted October 20, 2015 Yeah I'm one for more of the sleeper look myself. So I probably won't really change anything on the out side. Apart from maybe some wide arches if some 13x7s come up for cheap. But defiantly have to have the XR2 front lights! Are there any good security systems available for these??
PeteRS8084 Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Rottweiler on the back seat, rattlesnake on the front seat. Take of the steering wheel, put in a battery cut out. And finally tie it to something heavy........A bus or a tank maybe!
FiestaMatt Posted October 20, 2015 Author Report Posted October 20, 2015 I'll take that as a no then xD
colr6 Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 It's the same for any OSF they are so nick able, research any good imobaliser, locking wheel nuts Yale used to do some dead locks for the doors. Or simply keep in a locked garage and keep your eye on it when out in the car.
Danish Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Yeah I'm one for more of the sleeper look myself. Yup. Bog standard outside. Mondeo Zetec & gearbox inside. Muhahahaha!

Or simply keep in a locked garage and keep your eye on it when out in the car. Yeah that's one of the big draw backs of pretty much any old car. Hopefully insurance would go down a few bob if a good alarm and immobilizer are installed. Yup. Bog standard outside. Mondeo Zetec & gearbox inside. Muhahahaha! Quite fancy doing a zetec turbo, hopefully should be doing a turbo zetec on our MK4 Escort Combi Estate in the next year or two
HotRodMatt Posted October 23, 2015 Report Posted October 23, 2015 Keep the body stock but get it as mint as you can. Run it like that then maybe tackle the suspension and any reliability issues in a few years. A stock mint old car will draw loads of admiring glances from those in the know more than a modded one as they know how hard it is to keep it mint plus it'll hold value for the future and give you a solid base should you wish to mod the hell out of it later.
FiestaMatt Posted October 23, 2015 Author Report Posted October 23, 2015 I think that's going to be the plan yea . I want to keep the standard look anyway. As SmokeEm said. Just going to make it a nice place to be and make it drive nice lol
