colr6 Posted November 9, 2015 Report Posted November 9, 2015 As most of you will know I recently purchased a Tina mk1. Been trying to locate original parts around the uk through all the normal channels squiddly toss all!! So we go outside the UK hey presto new oe rear light lenses- Austrailia, new rear light bezels Austrailia,Grille Holland, RHD wiper rack Belgium so much for getting uk fords back on the road using uk suppliers, answers from them range to no chance cost a fortune mate if you can find them, not seen them in years, your joking, in your dreams. No wonder this countries in such a state we can't even make simple parts for great British car, THE FORD. If foreigners can do it and find them if they haven't got them why can't WE! Simple ITS TO MUCH TROUBLE. The motto is if you want real parts oe go to a foreign country they'll have them or take the trouble to get them for you. Makes you sad to say your English
deltamal Posted November 9, 2015 Report Posted November 9, 2015 The main reason for not being able to get old Ford parts made over here is the cost of the tooling, it would would be near impossable to recover the cost with the demand for parts, the Australian parts are most probably third world sourced, either parts or tooling, the 'cheap' Mk3 Tina lenses are poor quality and don't fit very well.....
colr6 Posted November 9, 2015 Author Report Posted November 9, 2015 Lot of the parts sourced were oe not repos at very reasonable prices inc the delivery, can't get much better than that.
jxke Posted November 9, 2015 Report Posted November 9, 2015 Where are you getting your stuff thats outside the UK from? There's a few bits I want that I may have more luck sourcing from further afield...
colr6 Posted November 9, 2015 Author Report Posted November 9, 2015 Just google nos ford parts in different countries and trawl the ads, takes hours but can be worth it! 1
Leo Posted November 9, 2015 Report Posted November 9, 2015 If there's no OE parts in the uk, doesn't it just mean we've ran out? No ones fault surely.
colr6 Posted November 9, 2015 Author Report Posted November 9, 2015 There are oe parts in the uk but what a price! Take this car a light at each corner equates to nearly a grand yes a grand yes I know the old story if you want a part for that resto then you'll pay for it. But while the uk dealers are lifting your leg their kicking you in the nuts while there in there!
Admin Vista Posted November 10, 2015 Admin Report Posted November 10, 2015 Lot of the parts sourced were oe not repos at very reasonable prices inc the delivery, can't get much better than that. The New Old Stock OE stuff you find overseas is largely because there isn't the massive demand for them there that there is here. I think the European Classic Ford scene is far bigger in the UK than it is elsewhere.

Let's be honest the only good thing about oe panels is that they fit apart from that they were shit that's why we were changing wings/sills/ and various other pans at 5 years old not just our weather either 1
