Bigger Bore RS Exhaust Manifold

[Rally Pack 2000]

The Mk2 RS2000 came with its better flowing cast RS manifold with the RS logo on it. Was there a bigger bore competition version of this manifold also referred to as the Group 1 Manifold? Can anyone tell me more about it? (comparison photos would be perfect) Are there many gains to be had with it over the original one? Is the asking price substantially different to the conventional RS Manifolds.

Don't look much different to normal RS one,certainty not to justify that price. Can't see it will flow much if any better than std. Being the one of the ideas of a good manifold is to get the primary's the same length. Looks like it fits onto std RS front pipe so no gains there! Think I would rather put the money towards a GOOD manifold and system tagged on the end of it instead of saying look at my GRP 1 RS fannymold it's got RS on it no foooking good though but it's a real RS part, whooopee

Wow thats alot. Its not really worth it is it? Probably not for what I want it for anyways. A Standard one would do I think.

I saw that and wondered why it was so cheap..............cracked to buggery! CI is a PITA to weld right but it can be done - just not easy!

I'd guess the amount of corrosion now in those cracks would make it virtually un-salvageable!

Thanks for that kind offer. Unfortunately that particular one is severely cracked I would be back where I am with the one I already have. Good price though if you know how to cast weld.

i had one and sold it and bought a 105 speed manifold and system with the proceeds which is a nice bit of kit and preforms much better.

to the uninitiated it has the wow factor but to the people that know what there looking at and like the finer things in life a group 1 manifold deserves respect

I accept that original parts can cost more but its something you have to keep a close eye on and know what things are worth and what silly prices some put on them. I think a regular one in good condition that 150 pounds is a fair price, I accepted the rarity of the Group 1 manifold and would pay 300 pounds for a good one. So double is fair dont you think? 500 pounds just makes me think about diminishing returns and what other things the money could be better spent on. I was initially offered a Group 1 at 500 pounds but baulked at it only to find the next day he said he thinks he can get a thousand pounds for it. At least that totally settled my indecision at 500. So there is no end to the silliness.

Just to resurrect this thread a bit if I may. There are a couple of standard ones (not big bore) up for sale at the moment. One with the secondary pipes and one without. Whats the maximum I should pay do you think? The bigger IF is that will they even send all the way to never never land.

David Vizzard rates the standard RS manifold and thats good enough for me. I would not pay for a Grp 1 manifold over the standard RS as previously said they look identical!

Yes I have sort of given up on the idea of the Grp 1 version of the manifold unless one was offered to me at a realistic price. Im now just trying to get the best deal I can on a regular one. 250 pounds for a good regular one seems a bit high to me?
