OSF's

A lot of you have probably seen photos of my mk1 Cortina. Although I have to mention that I cannot get photos added to my garage, no matter what I do they will not go through......

I have now brought an Anglia van to play with in along with my mk1 which has been restored to original spec and is mint and is painted exactly the same as my mk1 cortina. The van is Standard spec is no good for me with the standard engine etc. but how should I modify it, I wanted to zetec it but should I try and go old Skool instead and look to put a fast road pre cross flow in it etc.

Ideas gratefully received, here are some photos of the van before being finished and I will add some more of it completed, later.

Cheers

Lee

Pre Cross is a bit of a non starter in my book (thats why they made der crossflow, innit )

Lotus twink, good luck finding one, and then even better luck affording it

Pinto..please  :finger:

You could  put a Zetec in and dress it up to look Oldschool, all the go and reliability without having to chop the shell about and not too expensive to do

Or nutty X-flow steel screamer, that will be a hooligan to drive to the shops in, and will leave you out of pocket if it goes bang

I have three mates with vans, ones a Lotus, ones a blacktop and one is a blown ST170

So pay your money and take your pick dude, good luck with whatever you decide on, if you want more specific info, pop on to 105speed.com

Wow you didnt waste any time! Didnt you post a thread just last week that you just started thinking about getting one? Its a nice traditional Green.

There you go Englishbulls Rally Pack has an old Twin Cam that he can't give away to family or friends and now requires some good old English screen rubbers, could there be a deal struck there ! Get it and put it in a more fitting surroundings an ANGLIA.....HaHa

I cannot be bought with mere windscreen rubbers! But throw in a set of Mk2 opening quarter windows and I would think about it!

Yeah, I found one quick and it matches me mk1's colour scheme....

I am more than happy ordering a couple of mk2 rubbers for you and then picking up the twink in me 997cc van, very generous of you!!!

I have got a 2.1 pinto in my mk1, so I have decided to put that in the van and I'm going to Duratec my mk1 as I have seen the mk1's on you tube with duratec and zetec engines and they look wicked, I'd love to try one to see how different it feels to the pinto.

Cheers for all your ideas and all I can say is, watch this space......

Gonna have to chop the bulkhead to get that old boat anchor in mate, that will knock a few quid off the resale :(  shame as its all painted as well :dope:

Got to agree with this one

Definitely don't chop anything.

A Zetec will go in without cutting, and will be a much better engine than anything older. If you're feeling particularly flush, then treat it to some Milton suspension parts, and matched with the Zetec, you'll have a fantastic van that will also handle very well.

Wot u need is a nice low mileage 1.4 zetec se motor ( yes u do!!) An i know of one going cheap! 78k genuine comes with a free focus lol!! Tidy 5 seats and stereo! ;)

I don't want to cut the bulkhead as the van is too good and thought the pinto would be the best choice, also zetec needs the tunnel changed? I would prefer to not have a crossflow in there cos even the pinto's I've used in motors before have always seemed better than a crossflow, in my view anyway....

I have been offered a swap for a mk2 lotus cortina that needs work, respray, interior retrim and head rebuild. I had one before for years that I had restored to mint condition but you don't get that much out 0f the engine.

Maybe I'll zetec or swap it then, what would you do?

Cheers

You wouldn't need to change the tunnel for a zetec, you would if you wanted to use a 5/6 speed gearbox however.

I run a 2lt blacktop on Milton X-member and its a very snug fit up to the bulkhead, coupled with a 2000e box and away you go.

http://www.105speed.com/default.asp?id=286  go here and click on the Milton logo to view the catalogue, not the cheapest, just the best, there are other people offering ill fitting parts for

105's that use Escort parts etc, but feedback from people that have used them is mostly negative . I have also used parts from Dave @ Retroford with good success.

If you look up UGG10 he's using a Sigma zetec in his Anglia, not so straightforward but its another option.

I love Mk2 Lotus Cortinas. They are just gorgeous. I would swap for that sure if you are happy to do the work. There are some good Twincam tuners our there im sure you could match most of what you would get from a road Pinto and have a bit of eye candy under the bonnet as well. The thing is you just got your van, are you ready to part with it so soon? I would have though a Genuine Lotus Cortina would have been worth more?

I wasn't looking for a swap, I was just offered that when the van was seen by the twink owner.

Thing is I already have the mk1 cortina and I'd had a mk2 lotus for 8-years and you can beat the zetec or duratec engines in my opinion anyway.

I am going to get the Milton and 105 speed front end and then put a zetec in it with a BDA type cam cover and as the advice has suggested, keep to a 4-speed so that the tunnel does not need cutting.

The mk2 will make its money and hold value more than a van, as for zetecs from what I've read on here make sure you have plenty of space for an oil catch tank, the back of the van will do. If any body asks you could always say it's a dry sump tank !!
