Are there any mk2 focus rs cars in australia?

Yep we had those, identical to the European model except only came with leather seats and a couple of less interior gadgets. We have the current ones as well. They made it into the news not that long ago with all the do gooders up in arms that they have the European drift mode fitted.

They were the first RS Fords we had available through Ford Australia since the Mk2 RS Escorts were discontinued in 1981

they wouldve sent you cosworths but theyd av been nicked or crashed on the way. like most of the cosworths over here

Yes i miss my frs it was a modern classic

I prefer the look of the older fords but the way that focus rs drove made me smile from ear to ear

the only foci i dont mind is the first rs foci, as in the colin mcrae type.

For Group A racing we did get Cosworth Sierras even though you couldnt buy one for the road. We even hosted a round of the World Touring Car Championship at Bathurst. Some of the most powerful Cosworth Engines were built here and exported back to European teams to race in the Group A series there. Basically the Sierras dominated everything for a time then the 4WD Nissan GTR came out and it had the edge. Naturally by then the Escort Cosworth was soon to be released to challenge it but the V8 fraternity got upset that they they couldnt win anything any more. Even 4 cylinder non turbo M3s were faster. So in order to pander to them ALL other touring cars were banned and only Ford and Holden (GM) V8s were allowed. Thats how the V8 Supercar Championship was born and motor racing in general declined and you barely see anything broadcast any more. So the Escort Cosworth never got a showing even on the race track. Ford and Holden will cease all manufacturing next year but the V8 crowd are pretending thats not really happening and that their silly little championship will continue. They will probably try keep it going with Mustangs and Cameros.

Had the pleasure of owning both

Fdt 77v rs 2000 and ex11usw focus rs

Both great but great in different ways

teah i know what you mean, ive drove loads of cosworths, xr2s xr3s rs turbos focus st. but for me the only thing that comes close to an old ford is a rwd saph cossie, never driven a 3 door. i just like sideways and being a hooligan!

cosworths get bad press but if built and looked after properly they can be fast and reliable. fantastic engine to say its basically a pinto from the 70s. true legend

Sorry for my ignorance but what is an Anglia ?

Have speed read this thread. So please excuse me.

Which fords that have been recently produced can you honestly say will become classics in the future ? I can only think of 1, being the mk2 rs focus. Probably fords best ever car, without counting the us market.

Are you trying for another bite out of Colr6?

an Anglia could in fact mean 3 different shapes of Ford from differing periods but on here is mostly used to refer to the 105e

fords best ever car is the mk2 escort. most successful rally car ever! my opinion the last great ford was the escort cosworth, looked the nuts from the shop! although as i said earlier in this thread i dont mind the mk1 foci rs, blue with the 5 spokes.

Yes it was a great car

I have been lucky over the years and had the cars i wanted

Saying that i would love a mk1 lotus cortina again but a se model and a early 63/64 car mmmm

id settle for a lotus rep but even those are escort priced. when i was 18 in 97 i had both the mk2 mexico that i still have, carnival red rwl81p and a signal amber rs2000 cvl243t. i thought i was the man back then, if i had both now i woudnd need another car

Colr6 i was indeed joking. Your Anglia looks outstanding . Once i have my mk2 upto fitness i plan to have my garage extended, or rehouse the motorcycles. Need a mk1 escort next but after that im thinking Anglia or Pop. Big plans and wanting to live the Dream . Bloody hate football , Realization of ones passion hey..
