colr6 Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 Anyone has this procedure ? Wearing glasses are really doing my head in!! Just can't get on with them. Tbh don't even like wearing sunglasses. Thoughts/ risks/ recommendations. Thought this might be a change of subject ie not car related
DT36 Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 My Missus wore glasses from the time we were in school and then had Lasek surgery about 4 years ago. She now has perfect vision, but to be honest the couple of days after surgery for her was very uncomfortable. 1
Kenbex522 Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 As long as you're not a train driver or airline pilot. Don't think they're allowed to have this done. (there maybe other not allowed occupations too)
HotRodMatt Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 I had both my eyes done 12 years ago and it was the best money I have ever spent. I went for the basic package which was having the eye numbed then held open so the drops could dissolve the lens, then it was scraped away before being lasered and patched up, as opposed to being fully lasered without the need for dissolving and scraping. The smell of burning eye was a little unnerving though.
Admin Vista Posted April 25, 2017 Admin Report Posted April 25, 2017 I have a few friends that have had it done, they were made up at the results.
deltamal Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 Im having mine done soon, I had my glaucoma sorted a couple of years ago which involved lasering holes through both eyes to let fluid in and out, so just the cataracts and corrective vision to go! it will have to be private as you have to have very restricted vision to get it done through the NHS,
SLAKER Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 I did it two years ago. However the days after the surgery were bad. Really bad.
stephens_xpack Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 Just don't watch final destination and you'll be fine...... Apparently though does it only last for around 10 years and then your eyes will correct themselves back to what they were?
PeteRS8084 Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 I have a friend who had it done, he rekons it's amazing, and more importantly they did it while he waited lol! 1

Apparently though does it only last for around 10 years and then your eyes will correct themselves back to what they were? I heard that too but it is BS, 12 years on my eyesight is still perfect. Obviously though as the eyes age they will give the same problems as with anyone else, not going to have perfect long and short eyesight at 95 years old, but it won't be because of the surgery.
accord83 Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 not going to have perfect long and short eyesight at 95 years old, but it won't be because of the surgery. Have you tried wearing boxing gloves in bed? But still, you're doing OK for 95
