katana Posted January 11, 2018 Report Posted January 11, 2018 This popped up and they are doing a Mk2 Escort 1600 Sport so giving it a watch and its ok - not for the purists though! SA import, came with a Mazda motor, apparently paid 8k for it. Throwing money at it for a 'rally car for the road' and it gets a Zetec back in it!, Atlas axle, coil overs etc etc! Looking to sell for £30k ! An ok job - not my taste but not my car! Worth a look though!
DT36 Posted January 12, 2018 Report Posted January 12, 2018 Watched it last night. Build was good, but didn't go into much of the mechanics. Car turned out nice, but the paint wasn't for me, although the standard of it was exceptionall.
stephens_xpack Posted January 12, 2018 Report Posted January 12, 2018 Yeah watched this as well. Paint was a great job, but didn't go much on the colour and pattern, each to their own and all that. but then I wouldn't have paid £30k for it either even if I could afford it. Great works though....
preacherman Posted January 12, 2018 Report Posted January 12, 2018 Is that the grey and yellow car on ebay

katana Posted January 12, 2018 Author Report Posted January 12, 2018 May be a nice bit of tail but can't drive fer sh1t - wonder what her coffee making skills are like? LOL! 1
Fozzy48 Posted January 12, 2018 Report Posted January 12, 2018 3 hours ago, preacherman said: Is that the grey and yellow car on ebay I watched it and enjoyed it and also wondered the same. It's not on ebay now, but looks just like the one that was. I wouldn't have paid 30k for it either, that's nearly restored mexico money and more desirable IMO. Fozzy
mk1del Posted January 14, 2018 Report Posted January 14, 2018 Another Made for TV show ,bit of a laugh for genuine car guys who really know what's involved building a car, Tidy bit of talent ,didn't let her drive when it was finished though, lol
steved35 Posted January 21, 2018 Report Posted January 21, 2018 Never keen on 15" wheels but was a street car as they say but had all the right bits bit expensive but they are all worth it
accord83 Posted January 21, 2018 Report Posted January 21, 2018 I watched, well fast forwarded a lot, the MGB one, 22 and 1/2 thou for a faux speedster, it was still on its USA spec high rise suspension ffs. Another TV clone programme to a formula for non petrol heads. The only thing is, it will raise price expectations for people with cars to sell.
Munch Posted January 21, 2018 Report Posted January 21, 2018 I caught the backend of this and i'm with you on why someone paid that much?? Colour scheme isn't for me but I bet it drives really well, and yes I would! Although these programs may well be made for tv, it still gives a good insight into what goes into a custom build. I think it's enjoyable viewing. 1
DT36 Posted February 4, 2018 Report Posted February 4, 2018 What about that Capri? I would have chipped them £2k to replace the wheels, exhaust and get a normal grill back on it. That is, if I had £38k in the first place. Nice engine though.
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted February 4, 2018 Moderator Report Posted February 4, 2018 I haven't ever seen or heard of this show before reading this thread a few mins ago. I looked at a preview and saw some blond pretending she could drive slam a perfectly straight Mk2 into a bolder and some fury American jump in the bonnet and piss on the windshield? I think I seem to have missed what the show is really about?
Fozzy48 Posted February 4, 2018 Report Posted February 4, 2018 That escort they did is for sale on cars and classics. No price on it though. I watched the capri episode and enjoyed it for what it was. Don't think I would have paid 40k for it 10k v8 motor or not. https://m.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C870648 Fozzy 1
steved35 Posted February 5, 2018 Report Posted February 5, 2018 I liked the Capri but didn't hit the spot on looks for me ? 1
khanlad Posted February 5, 2018 Report Posted February 5, 2018 It would have been great without the arches, wheels and grill....and side pipes, and the funny front panel
DT36 Posted February 5, 2018 Report Posted February 5, 2018 1 hour ago, khanlad said: It would have been great without the arches, wheels and grill....and side pipes, and the funny front panel What did you think about the seats?
jpayne Posted February 5, 2018 Report Posted February 5, 2018 I liked tha capri, needed bumpers though. blacked out though.
DT36 Posted October 22, 2018 Report Posted October 22, 2018 See the Escort is back up again. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F323503676535
stephens_xpack Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 Rear end looks like it is in primer..... 1

stephens_xpack Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 Plus, and this is only my personal opinion, the grey does it no justice what so ever. Not sure any car could pull off that colour grey to be honest....? 1

I'm still not too fussed over the colour TBH. Red would have been a lot more betterer. ? Fozzy 1
YellowTaxi Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 Yep, saw it a few months ago. Decent build but colour is not for me. Like all these programmes they spend too much time on un car related stuff and you miss the actuall work that really went into it. Also the bloke with the Mostache really winds me-up, I see hes on 5th gear with Plato and co now. Another TV show I will avoid. Oh..and yea I would too.! 1
