Imperial spanners. Try getting that one across to my 15 year old lad who wants to be a car mechanic..sorry technician.

I asked my apprentice how many 8ths are in an inch. He had no idea. Useless!!!!

Another one few years back asked me for a 1 and 4/8ths socket?!?!?

Like it! all normal to me, rich if you could afford the scrunchy Izal or Bronco toilet paper! one of my jobs as a kid was tearing newspapers into squares for toilet paper! Kodak 120 film for my box camera and 78 records, back when a Ford pop was in production, how times have changed! as an apprentice there was only the imperial system, Whitworth BSF BA and UNC threads, I still think in thous and inches and do the mental calculation into metric, no calculators or computers, log tables to work out angles etc, good old days? not sure ?

Remember getting these on my birthdays whilst at boarding school.

Wow, you can send a message from the other side of the world and it'll get there the same day?? Amazing!

"Actually most cars over here are still manual transmission."

Doubt if anyone could sell a new car over here in the penal colonies with manual transmission. Most appear to be minimum 5 or 6 speed auto's.

Post something today's kids wouldn't understand....

That their parents do actually have authority over them (.....well some of the time).

How do you explain that to young children now "1970s Dad wasn't your friend but a slightly remote authority figure who earned the money, had a mostly separate social life to the family, and gave out physical punishment."
