is your 1300E a series 1 or 2 Robby, I'm guessing its a 2 or a changeover going on the colour

TBH I didn’t know there was a 1 or 2 it must be a 2 it’s 1974 it was matalic green but defo the wrong colour so when I started stripping it the real colour could be seen it came with wot I would say mk2 cream seats with the single steel bar going to the headrest if you know wot I mean

all series 1 had tip fwd seats, series 2 had runnered seats like the mk2, sound like you had/have non mk 1 seats, as none of the E's had head rests

that was why I was asking, you have to bear in mind when looking at seats, you don't want tip fwd frames, as you don't have the lock plates on the tunnel

As I mentioned in a previous post the similarity’s between the RS roll tops and the cossy sierra seats, hers a comparison picture. You have to imagine both seats covered in the same material as mine are in leather. But the same look could be achieved, well I think so anyway. Thoughts????

Slight alteration in lower squab should achieve the same overall appearance

i dont know why Ray but i missed this when you posted it, and just come across it. most of the time it doesn't show me new posts for some reason. thats amazing how many colours these came in, up until now i thought they only came in purple velvet and jade green. they are the only colours ive ever seen, must be the most popular!

OK, back to seats:

1.Did you manage to get yourself sorted?

2. Has anyone got a roll of Black Betacloth for sale, enough to do 2 seats?

Might be able to get some from Aldridge Trimmers or use their cover sets - not cheap but damn good quality.

Someone here locally bought some from Aldridge once but it didn't quite match the original stuff so I suspect there were subtle variations in the pattern of the material used through the years. Given they don't offer rear covers they would have to offer the material separately so people can get their rear seats to match the covers they sell.

Ordered some side bolsters from them yesterday, but they didn't have any cloth.

I'm having the seats made up from Capri seats to look as close as possible to the Escort ones. Although Aldridge have seat cover kits, they will probably need to be altered a fair bit.

My car currently has bucket seats fitted, but I want to try and get a more original look.

That's really interesting. That would be a deal breaker for me if they couldn't offer cloth to create a matching rear. I was actually considering their covers even though really expensive. I wouldn't commit to them without extra cloth.
