Definitely not seen that one. What country number plate is that?

I believe its Thailand - the car / van features a lot on the Rallyesport website. Built there, fairly extreme spec and the bubbles are all hand beaten from sheet - their work can't be faulted IMO! - that is if its the same van !

I love the idea of long country touring but towing caravans would put me off but I would consider something like this.

Some nice motors in that video.

How does it work regarding number plates over there, can you just make one up and if no one has it its yours.

GRP 1RS would be megga over here.

Yep that's pretty much how it works. You do have to pay a fee over and above your usual registration fees so its a bit profit maker for the state government. In the old days when I got the RP-2000 number plate it was just a one off fee of 80 bucks to make the plates and nothing to pay after that but if you were to do the same now that fee would be annual. Word plates can be much more expensive. When I had Lotus4 on my Twincam I had to pay a few hundred dollars over and above the registration fees every year. You can also transfer your old plate from car to car. My mum has had the number plate on 5 different cars since the 70's just so she can always remember what it is. The small plates with purple numbering and a H at the end are what they call historic club plates for classic cars. You have to get them through a registered car club and costs you around 60 quid annually but it comes with restrictions like you have limited kms and have to keep a log book and record every journey. I pay full fees and keep my Mk2 fully registered so I don't have to be monitored or have some club ego forcing my hand which some clubs get a bit mafia like with how they allocate club plates.
