YellowTaxi Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 I have a 4 door Original RS2000. Obviously I know It will never make the money a 2 door car in the same condition would. But Its in great condition, never been welded. Full MOT. Shell is mint. Recent Aldridge Recaro seat re-trim. Polished RS Alloys just been refurbished, new Pirelli Tyres. Engine completely standard. as is the whole car. Drives like an RS should. Looking for 17k If it where a 2 door it would be 30k all day long. Just gauging reaction before it goes to auction. Welsh/Monmouth border. Come and have a look. 1
notenoughtime Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 Looks lovely you should get your money you want, why are you selling?
YellowTaxi Posted December 30, 2019 Author Report Posted December 30, 2019 Thanks for the positive comments, Selling because storage is limited and I have too many cars stored at the moment. Its a shame but storage local to me is in very short supply. If anybody would like any specific pics please ask. Also, forgot to mention car is UK registered in my name. Other things I forgot to mention: Car has been converted for unleaded fuel. No speaker holes in doors. Original radio New radiator New battery New standard exhaust Drives better than any Mk2 I have ever owned or driven.
Monza Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 There was a white 4-door RS for sale down London way about 5 years ago. A few messages were sent and received but I wasn't convinced enough to go on a 500ish mile round trip to go and view it. Looked much like yours....in a very good, original, standard condition. 11k it was then. Not seen it since. Good luck with the sale m8 👍
YellowTaxi Posted December 31, 2019 Author Report Posted December 31, 2019 I know of the white car you refer to. I also was in contact and did take a look at it. Unfortunately it had been re-shelled and with so few 4 door RS's made it wasnt done with the strengthened RS shell, so value suffered. Body tags not present either. Shame because it looked really good in the flesh. 1

Rally Pack 2000 Posted February 16, 2020 Report Posted February 16, 2020 This nice car now about to go up for Auction. I would have expected a much higher value than that listed as you wont find a better 4 door RS out there on the open market. Will be interested to see how much it fetches. https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/events/2020-auctions/race-retro-classic-competition-car-sale-2020/race-retro-classic-competition-car-sale-2020/classic-cars-saturday-22nd-february-2020/1979-ford-escort-rs2000-four-door 1
YellowTaxi Posted February 18, 2020 Author Report Posted February 18, 2020 Yep, Its goin to auction. I have sold a few through Silverstone Auctions and they have all gone above estimate, one went 30k over so we will see. As the saying goes ''the market will find the true value'' I am a bit twitchy though. Would be sad to see it go for lower estimate. Hopefully it gets bought by sopmeone who really appreciates it and uses it. Its such a good car, no rust and never been welded in its life. New interior, new tyres, re-furbished Alloys. Why am I selling it? Even I dont know but will be looking for a project to replace it. Wish me luck.
YellowTaxi Posted February 22, 2020 Author Report Posted February 22, 2020 Well it sold. Happy with that. Hope the new owner uses it and looks after it. https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/events/2020-auctions/race-retro-classic-competition-car-sale-2020/race-retro-classic-competition-car-sale-2020/classic-cars-saturday-22nd-february-2020/1979-ford-escort-rs2000-four-door 2
colr6 Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 Good call, sold more than your original asking price. Less the fees of course 👍
Vista Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 There was a lot that didn't sell in that auction.
Rally Pack 2000 Posted February 23, 2020 Report Posted February 23, 2020 I really liked that car. I still think it should have fetched a bit more up towards 25k. He got a good car at a good price. What was interesting is that they got some of their information for the description that can only be found in posts here on the forum but got their history of the 25 Mk1 RS2000s and the 25 Euro Mk2 RS2000s that were batch imported a bit mixed up. He mentions Ford Australia procrastinated between those first 25 till we started producing our own in 79 completely missing that the 25 Mk2s were mainly road cars not race cars like the Mk1s and were used for as test bed for the introduction of 2lt Pinto Escorts onto the Australian Market, where they ultimately decided that the flat nosed variants would be better suited for our conditions instead. Even homolgating the Rally Pack as a flat nosed RS2000 to race. The introduction of the conventional droopsnoot came in 79 as a cosmetic model revamp but were mechanically the same as earlier flat nosed cars underneath. Cant blame him for the confusion though, most references by published authors get it wrong too.
thrashermax Posted February 27, 2020 Report Posted February 27, 2020 £17,609 bid, £2,641 - 15% fees to Silverstone Auctions. Auctioneers make good money on old Fords.
