For me it was Exchange and mart for stuff anywhere in the UK , or Friday and for local stuff. ๐Ÿ˜

As it happens the wheels are in London, though that is a big area, so could be not too far , but still need to get someone to pick them up ๐Ÿ™„

Back in the mid 80s, we used to travel all over the country picking up Escort parts. We used to have to wait for the Motoring News or Exchange of Mart to come out every week hoping someone had what we neededย ๐Ÿ˜„

I used to love trawling through the breakers, 9 times out of 10 there would me a MK2 there, I had mostly MK2's back in the day and remember climbing 3 or 4 cars high to remove boot lids and bits and bobs, top car swaying a bit in the windย ๐Ÿคฃย Atkinsons in Wimbledon South London was a regular haunt as was Bridges down the M23

Oil everywhere, bag full of spanners and screwdrivers and always somewhere to take a piss, normally in something Frenchย ๐Ÿ˜‰

I lived in West London back then, there were breakers yards everywhere!!! We used to drive from one to the other on Saturday mornings, it was like a ritual lol! "Hunters" in Perivale was the most organised, but like you say, you had to go three or four high wobbling aboutย ๐Ÿ˜ย There was also a massive one in Park Royal that was on the land of a demolished factory, they had acres of land and nothing was stacked. But they were all so busy that they constantly had burger vans outside of them.

I just see you are from Mitcham, back in the mid 80s I remember a lad from Mitcham who use to get up the Chelsea Cruise in a MK1 Escort with a sorted BDA fitted to it! I was up there in a 3.0 MK2 that I built and his MK1 left me for dead!ย ๐Ÿ˜„

No!

I distinctly remember different mates writing of the following cars,

Midnight Blue RS2000 with Tan Recaro Interior
Java Green RS2000 with Chocolate Recaro Interior
& a White Harrier

which all went on as donor parts because everyone insured their cars TPF&T back then! I think I had some parts from all of them. I remember drilling out all the spot welds on the midnight blue ones dash as I was converting a LHD one to RHD at the timeย

Yep, grew up in Pollards Hill in Mitcham surrounded by old Fords, I think it was written into every council house tenancy agreement that you had to have an old Ford, lowered, a bit rusty and preferably on twin carbs and done on a budget!
Extra bonuses if you sprayed it with cans outside your house and changed engines in the roadย ๐Ÿคฃ

A bit weird.

You have wheels to sell, I want to buy some, we do a deal.

You would think that would be pretty simple, aparently notย ๐Ÿคช
