Hi all, I've had my RS for other 25 years and I've for a number of years been lacking the enthusiasm to actually drive it. I live in North Wales and have so for about 15 years and it's just spit, polish and point up here which just isn't for me as I like a drive and miss the OSF birth days when I lived in Basingstoke as a blast out was always a good laugh. I wouldn't sell but has the values really upset the apple cart and therefore mindset of current owners. I'm 50 now but the car for me is about keeping the link to my youth but it's sadly is sat in storage with blocked idle jets....

I’ve always driven my cars (toys) as often as possible no matter what the weather. Always buy to drive and not to sit idle in the garage waiting for the sun to come out. Each to their own I guess…

im also in my 50’s and the Mk1 escort is my link to my youth as well.. 1st car was a mk2 escort.

I always remember back in the day people saying car finance ruined the car scene, now it’s collectors in it for the money and driving the prices up etc.. cars going to shows on trailers 🙈

Not into car shows too much myself as often up here it’s the same cars doing the rounds so gets kinda boring after a while. Far prefer a run with some mates, stop for Fish & Chips and a bit fun on the way home…

I know what you mean Gordy, same age as you and I've had mine for around 22 years or so, and I dipped a few years back, it didn't turn a wheel for a couple of years, but got the bug back a bit more now and try to get out and about. Should be at Bromley Pageant this Sunday, which isn't actually in Bromley any more - F**K YOU KHAN!

I think between 2004 and 2010 were the best OSF years for huge outings and massive club stands and the banter level was off the chart at times.

Just dont sell it, once it's gone it's gone, and you may never get another

I like building the cars, then I like a good blast. I don't really go to shows.

Back in the early 80's ,I had 3 Anglia's, 1 Anglia van, 2 Mk1 Escorts, a Transit camper, with a 2000e GT engine.

Now I have a MK1 Cortina 2 door, Mk2 Escort van, Mk2 Cortina 2 door, Mk2 Escort Sport.

I'm coming up to retirement, but I still love sideways around roundabouts, and racing anything , even if I know I can't beat them. 😆

My dad picked me up from school one day in, YLL 165S, the first time I set eyes on a MK2, I was 10.

When I got to 13, he unfortunately died, I vowed to buy one as soon as I could afford one. Subsequently, I ended up in the Army by the time I was 17. By 20, I had  3 🤣 OHG 856P, TEC886V  and ATL971S, ten a penny in those days.

I guess way back when OSF was a big thing, there were more Fords about then, times change unfortunately. I love the classic car scene in general , especially OFS’s.  I’m relatively new ish compared to you guys, but it’s a great for the craic and sound advice.

I’m 58 on Saturday, 😬 I would never sell mine, it’s out in all weathers, cars shows. It’s in the blood I reckon, plus it’s a homage to the old man, growing up, Ari Vatanen  and Stig Blomqvist posters on my bedroom wall.
Get those jets sorted. Before you know it, we’ll all be wearing pine overcoats 🤣

That's an easy fix ...

Yeah I know it's just another pain with IDF's as not just as easy as unscrewing the jets and always happens when you don't need it to,

Thanks all, sounds like I'm not alone then. I'm going to get it out next week and kick it's head in. YKT

Not me, I'm being powdered and dropped out of a spitfire. Unless they can bury me in the more-door
